Watching the Russia game on the RTÉ Player

So despite begging and pleading I'm unable to get off work until about an hour after the match finishes. Does anybody know how quickly the matches get uploaded to the RTÉ player? If it's there quickly, I'd prefer to avoid the result and watch it later that evening 'as live'. Can anybody advise? Thanks!

I can only speak for the BBC player and it's my experience that they are not available immediately (which is annoying)
usually it is several hours after.

Furthermore things you really might want to watch like Match of the Day are no on it at all. (which is annoying).
So I would not be surprised it RTE is similar, ie that the game is not available on the player.
I hope for your sake I am wrong, but just a word of warning so to speak.

The game will be available on RTÉ Player. The Slovakia game is on it at present, but I imagine it won't be up until a few hours after the match.

I can't find the Slovakia match on it but that is probably because I am watching the 'international' version.

Seems a bit unfair they only show it in Ireland.

It's to do with RTÉ possessing the rights to show the game in their territory only. It's not even available online in the north, as far as I know.

Anyway, the Slovakia game is here: http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=1110545

There's a geoblock on that though, which is easy to get around. Apparently, it's against the law to advertise circumvention tools though, but it's not against the law to circumvent the geoblock as long as it's for personal rather than commercial use.

Colbert Report was explaining that he'd have the same problem last night.

I noticed the Slovakia game was available on-demand within just a few hours. I, too, will be watching the Russia game 'as live' later that evening.

I would have thought the right to show the game outside Ireland would be pretty worthless.
It's seems rather mean to block the small number who would want to watch.
A lot of them would be Irish citizens on holiday for example who have already paid their license fee or whatever.
I often see the same kind of thing in the UK but in reverse, ie a British program like xfactor which I can't watch
a clip of in the UK on youtube because it is blocked here but people from other countries can watch!!

On a wider not I notice a lot more football streams are being blocked, ie
    http://www.myp2p.eu/competition.php?...pline=football
    Is no longer available.

I looked into that geoblock thing but I doubt it will be possible for me to do it without paying.
There was something about a method for getting a 'direct link' but I expect that no longer works.
I could test it if someone messages me a .rm link for the Slovak match.

If you have a few minutes to fiddle round, you can easily circumvent the geoblock by following this video, substituting UK for Ireland obviously.

Not sure how it operates exactly and I'd imagine the specific details are a Google search and little digging away, but possibly only those channels with rights to show Euro 2012 qualifying games in other territories have the right to show Ireland games in those territories. Maybe someone else in the know could clarify.

Such sites often relocate as a result of legal issues or proceedings. The domain was put "on hold" and MyP2P.eu relocated to Wiziwig.eu due to unspecified domain issues, although Wiziwig.eu was then shut down within a few days of going online. I've heard the NFL brought proceedings against the site and presumably there's some sort of injunction in place, if that is the case. I dunno if that is actually the case though; could well be a rumour. If you ever need a stream, you should be able to find something here though:

The Google doesn't come up with an awful lot that actually works for geoblock.

Follow Charlie's link. Just a matter of finding an operational Irish proxy server to watch RTÉ Player instead of a UK one for BBC iPlayer.

Easier said than done and even harder to find an anonymous one

Ok I should have expanded a little really. As i pm'd Di as well.

So proxying for those who do or don't know what it is is essentially a go between an Identifiable source in ireland and your "home" PC outside of ROI(based on how all ip addresses for Ireland would be prefixed(similar to how domain names work)......this in theory could change with IPv6.

Now for BBC this is a lot simpler, because there are far more proxy servers available for the UK than Ireland, and that is the main problem here.

However I have tried "reliable" irish proxy servers, and they DO NOT work with rte live player(not sure about the recorded iplayer stuff).

I'm also quite surprised that a lot of those sites(listed on hidemyass.com) use SSL and 2 way authentication.

Now if someone can give me an actual viable irish proxy server without paying $$ a month, then I would be much obliged The only other way I know of doing it is probably not legal, but would cost and also need to be setup i.e. vpn/rdp to a friends pc in Ireland and do it that way. Either way the upload speed would not make it worth it really. Ive also tried that remote login website for windows and the speeds offered are just not good enough.

Any time I've needed to use the site in the video, I've had no trouble finding Irish proxies.

you might well find one, whether or not any of them are "up to speed"/viable is another thing.

For example ive just tried the 3 listed, 1 didn't load, the other was too slow even getting to rte and the 3rd is pausing every few seconds watching anything in iplayer or the liveplayer.

And this has always been the case for me.

Please delete all these posts if this is anyway illegal.
