Comfortable win for Shels in Tolka tonight against a Youths side down to the bare bones in terms of player availability. Noel started with a 4-5-1 with Packie,Mark, Patsy, Karl, Murt, Eoin, Craig, Shane D. Danny, Shane N., and Tom up front on his own. Tom got a shot away in the first minute which was easily saved and, after two, a bad backpass allowed a Shels player to round Packie and score but was ruled out, I can only think for an earlier offside. After four, a cross from the right was let run to Philly Hughes and he stuch it away easily for 1-0 to the home side. Two minutes later, a lob from Shane Nolan went narrowly wide.

The rest of the half was mostly dominated by Shelbourne and, after 25, Hughes got his second with a fine effort when he chested it down inside the box and volleyed home before the defender next to him could get in a challenge. After half an hour, the first of Wexford's three injuries occurred when Craig fell down clutching his leg while on the run and was helped off with Muzzi coming on. Tom then got another shot away which was pushed away for a corner and McGill picked up a yellow for kicking the ball away. Just before the blow, Cassidy was put through but Packie did well to smother the shot for 2-0 to Shels at half-time.

The second-half was a tame enough effort but after two, a good Shels move down the left left Packie having to hold onto a good effort. After ten, Eoin also limped off and was replaced by James Dermody, who is new to me. After 15, Tom picked up a yellow for making contact with the Shels keeper when trying to get onto a headed backpass. Halfway through the half, Patsy also limped off and was replaced by Mick's son, Joseph Barry Wallace, who was also involved in the U19s earlier that afternoon. With five to go, Danny had a 30 yard volley which went a couple of feet over and, just on the 90, a lob from the left by a Shels forward hit the inside of the post and came out, leaving Sean Byrne with an easy chance for a final 3-0 score to Shels.

In a match which Wexford looked pleased to get out of the way, the most positive aspects were the eventual middle three of the two Shanes and Danny, who passed the ball reasonably well on the deck at times, and Tom Elmes, who worked impressively hard up front. Murt also showed some composure at the back while Dermody looked useful enough during his half-hour. However, Wexford will need more of their squad back if they hope to secure much needed points in the matches to come.

James Dermody is a new addition to the squad from Kilkenny and has also previously played with FC Carlow. Not sure of his preffered position but on the few occassions he got the ball he seems to be willing to run at the defence very difficult situation to make your debut
