I though researching Holland before malmo was gonna be a jinx but its proven that wasn't the case.Originally Posted by thecorner

Its bloody hard planning a trip to an way game with only a week before you travel so no harm eliminating some options the week before.
Imagine if City lose on Sunday, we'll all go 'OMG I looked at travel details for nantes. How could I have been so stupid! What must people think of me!?!'Originally Posted by thecorner
A win for City and we're all thinking, 'right, straight onto this website and that to book that best deal on the most practical route which I'd researched earlier.'
Cocky doesn't come into it.

my opinion,thats all
If we do get through there is a fair chance that the club will try to switch the legs to get the home leg first.
Just in case we lose the first leg heavily and get a smaller crowd.
Also I've just read on another thread that the Leeds v Longford FAI cup game has been fixed for Friday 23rd, the day before the Roy Keane Ramblers game.
If City were at home that weekend it would mean three games at the Cross in less than 3 days. Hope it stays dry!
I've looked into one or two different travell arrangements for that weekend too and here's what I've found.....
It'll be short notice but I'm sure that the CCISA could manage to organise a bus, or else people could just drive.............
to Longford for the league game!!!!![]()
Will they honour that fixture given that they'll only just be back from Liechtenstien?Originally Posted by Eric

all i said was 'grow up', and if you think our research is going to somehow jinx us (or if you care that if we lose we'll have egg on our faces), then I repeat, 'Grow up'Originally Posted by thecorner
I know well we could lose, we all do, as i said in my reply to you, no-one's booking anything, we're just looking. but asking that a perfectly valid thread be thrown to Rubbish just because you don't like the opinions on it (that we're entitled to btw) is childish.
Anyway, to get back on topic....
I had a look at aerlingus.com in Paric CDG and at the mo' it's €230 return, out on the friday or saturday morning, back on the sunday evening from Dublin, about as cheap as you can get there.
www.irishferries.ie also do Rosslare to Roscoff (about two hours North of Nantes) which leaves on friday 15th at 5.00pm and arrives there at 12.00 the next day, can always come back by cherbourg.
It looks now though that (if we go through, and I know it's IF) it'll either be an expensive one, or a roundabout one![]()

Did it not say somewhere that the Nantes home game is on at 18:00 on the Sunday?Originally Posted by tiktok

Feck those ferries are pricey.
Irish Ferries (superferry) Dub-Hollyhead return for car & 5 people = €418.
England-France with P&O car & 5 people = €454 return.
Comes out at €175 per person using own car, exclusing petrol. Another 20-25 pp petrol,
No wonder no one takes the ferry anymore, puts airline prices in perspective.
There's no competition with the Ferries anymore. At least there is between the airlines.
As for the jinxing arguement, I think the weather will have more effect that us talking about the possibility of travelling to France.
flying into Paris CDG, Saturday evening, flying out Monday afternoon €197, not too bad, splitting car hire between a few or getting a train could still keep this lower than €300 www.aerlingus.com

flying into Brussels Charleroi, Saturday evening, flying out Monday evening €88, sounds great although it's a six hour drive, still splitting car hire and driving between a few of us could still keep this lower than €200 if the Accomodation standards are low![]()

Flights to somewhere in mainland europe seem to best option but those prices are not gonna get any cheaper & only going to increase...
Aer Arann also fly waterford to somewhere in Brittany for €85 each way.
Okay,
here's an example of a very rough and very doable itenerary
www.ryanair.com
Dublin to Brussels Charleroi on Sat 17th at 18.55 (arrive 21.30)
Brussels Charleroi to Dublin on Mon 19th at 21.55 (arrive 22.30)
Flights cost €84
www.hotels.com
Stay in the First euroflat hotel in Brussels on the Sat night
Twin Room with two sharing costs €65
Room 1 costs €32.50
Drive to Brussels on Sat morning, six hour spin
car hire through www.hertz.com is €93 for a Ford Focus Diesel, extra driver is €20, petrol (from experience should be about €90), split four to a car
Car Hire costs approx €50
(though I think it'd be cheaper and could be split five ways instead of four)
www.hotelclub.net
Stay in the Grand Hotel de Nantes in Nantes on the Sun night
Twin Room for two sharing costs €61
Room 2 costs €30.50
Split the drive back to Brussels on the Monday morning, flights not until 10pm so time can be taken.
Travel and Accomodation (with a bit of planning);
Total Cost = approx €200
Bit of teamwork a la Nijmegen required, but sounds good to me.

life is random
Just seen that myself & eventhough flights might be little more exopensive next week shouldn't go up by too much. Driving on the motorways would be easy when split between 2.Originally Posted by tiktok
I'm sure could find enough drivers to get the Rebel Army to Nantes. last weeks experience would stand everyone.
btw I owe yourself & liamon €5 each cos diesel was only €25 total for the 500km last week.
