    Worst losing run

May be elsewhere, but couldn't find a thread if it is. Just wondering if anyone knows definitively what is the worst losing run in the League of Ireland? Irish Independent today said Galway United have matched Kilkenny's run of 18 losses on the bounce, but local paper here says Kilkenny's run was 19 games, set at start of 1994/95 season in First Division.
    Anyone know the correct answer?
    "Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins."
    "Homer Simpson, smiling politely."

Happen to have a 1996 FAI Yearbook which makes reference to it in a piece called "Major Soccer Events of 1995". It says that on February 4th "Kilkenny sacked manager Paddy Gallagher after 18 consecutive defeats". It then says that on February 19th "Kilkenny City got first point of Division One by drawing 0-0 with Drogheda United".

So the question is whether Kilkenny played any league game between those two dates. If they did, the figure would probably be 19 and if they didn't it would stay on 18.

I think Kilkennys is now beaten (1994/95), but I think that was in the FD, surely this has to be a new record for a Premier Div side in most leagues in Europe.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Though they are playing Bray next who are on a bad run themselves so they have a chance.

The worst losing run I can find in any top-flight soccer division is 26 for Tampa Bay in the old NASL, of course Galway can reach 30 if they lose every game from now to the end of the season.
