While I'd prefer Cork City or Limerick with a new stadium to go up as they have the most potential; it'd be nice to have Shels back in the top flight. Their fans are diminishing in size every year so they really need to make it this year. If any of those teams get promoted I'll be happy. Anyone but Monaghan... (no offence intended Magicme!)

No, Shelbourne would be at no 4 , bohs at 2 and Pats at 3.
As for where Shels fans derive from, there is still a few fans that come from the ringsend area which is south of the liffey but most of their support would come from the northside.

^^^ Say that again?
I made a balls of it. it was such a good point i made it twice.
Fascinating battle for second and third. Shels should still be home and hosed.
For all the Cork euphoria - and it is understandable given their emphatic win - they are still level with us and both are only 3 clear of Limerick.
I fear we might just come up short again especially as we have Cork and Shels (and bete noir Mervue) away in the final series.
Theoretically though we have the easier final match taking on an admittedly improved Athlone while Shels host Cork and Limerick face Waterford.

Mervue with Gaffney and Mervue without Gaffney are two different propositions though. (the one drawback of signing him as I was saying the other night!)
We have to travel to Cork, Shels, Monaghan.
It's fair to say at this stage that playing away from home actually suits us but at the same time we've failed miserably to beat any of the teams around us this year which is very worrying given the gulf in standard between the top four and the rest.
I don't think we'll make it.
Yeah, you're spot on. The boost on Friday was psychological more than anything, given Shels position before the game. A win tonight for us would keep the confidence going, but there's still a series of games to go.
There seems to be very little between the 3 teams thus far, we can play some fantastic stuff but the consistency can improve. It will come down to who can hold the heads I think, a lot of young lads playing for all 3 teams so it'l be up to those with experience to see them through. Tbh, it could easily be a case of one team bottling it rather than the other 2 running away with it.
I think all 3 teams, while obviously looking for auto promotion, wo0uld fancy their chances in a playoff so really it's just to see who's the best 2 out of 3, It really will be fascinating. Can Mons keep it up without Roddy fecking it up? Can Daryl Horgan keep up the form he seems to be in for us and what will Gamble and Behan really add to Limerick and will it be enough.
I fricking love this league (I will of course say the complete opposite if we end up in 4th....
Funny you should say that. I have a feeling I'm going to miss the Discover Ireland League to be honest. Can't wait to get out of it but it'll always call after me if we get out of it
