Look, I agree with ye on what Mountfield was doing for the club, in getting them to be more professional, lisen to the fans, train more etc - but thats the directors job. His brief was to keep us in Europe and try to win the league. He didnt do it and, I think, would never have done it. With Murphy we now expect 3 points every time City play. Honestly, how often did you expect that when DM was there? For all of Murphy's lack of (entertaining) tactics, DM was even worse. Almost all of our few goals were from a big hoof from Devine, knocked on by Morley & finished by Mulligan. Even though not a lot has changed from that, at least we are getting a little bit more of the midfield involved.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

yea but alot of the non performance was down to the so called gang of 5 inc Ollie Cahill who clearly didnt like Montfield so decided pretty much not to play anything near his best when dereck was there, under gunther this obsticle isnt there , cause gunther doesnt want city to go into a full time professional systems regarding training and chit, so ollie is quite happy to get his money every week for less work..

and how in all fairness can you in one sentence say mountfiled was anyway at fault for the euro loss in lausanne. he was in the job a matter of weeks, gunther probably picked the team...and they were within minutes out there of getting a draw which they would have rightly deserved for the performance on the park...whereas gunther when he got his shot this year against a much weaker latvian side fcuked up both legs with his stupid formations and tactics....4-5-1 at home when your looking for goals against a poor latvian side!!!

even over there some of his decisions or lack of them when we needed subs on were amazing to say the least

Troy think b4 u speak please

The Swizz were down to ten men for along time in the away leg and Mountfield still kept it at 4-5-1. The problem with Mountfield was that he underestimated the League, yer man Guaghan couldn't get on to the Halifax bench when they were bottom of division 3 and still he thought he was good enough for Eircom League. Methinks similar to John Barnes at Celtic signing a geriatric Ian Wright.

Gaughan and Ian Wright: yeah, I can see the parrallel you're drawing there....

BTW, Mountie may have made mistakes - who doesn't - but as regards Lausanne away, it was his first competitive game in charge and only for a last minute goal he would have come away with a creditable 0:0 draw. Did you expect him to go for the jugular when he didn't even know what his own team was capable of?
