    super salthill win

just back from a great win in salthill. town were by far the better team. Somehow in the first few minutes salthill got a penalty which they missed. Austin Skelly had a goal disallowed and had a superb save from him by Ronan Forde. Paul Hunt had to be stretchered off after receiving a high knee...then with two minutes left on the clock craig walsh hit a crisp shot which Forde couldnt get to.. this was a winner we thought we never got. With Waterford and Mervue losin over the weekend all of a sudden our season is back up and running again.
Footnote: yet again the standard of referring left a lot to be desired...
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Don't mean to ruin picking up 3 points for you but in fairness Martinho it was Salthill not one of the top teams. And to say beating them has put the season back up and running is a bit over the top. Mervue won this weekend too, they didn't lose, along with Limerick which still leaves an 8 point gap between 4th and 5th also Waterford and Mervue have a game in hand on ye so can close the gap on ye from the other side. I'm not saying ye're season is over but Longford will have to throw a very good run together to be back up and running and not just beat the bottom team in the league.

I think what Marthino means is that earlier in the season we were not picking up last minute winners or equalizers we just had no luck like when Gillespie hit the crossbar in the last second in Monaghan so for us this is a massive win which breaks that luckless spell we had. Yes were a ling way back from Limerick but with the likes of Cork and Shels to come who knows what could happen, maybe we have saved the best win till last and if not by God it's still been a great season!

    Cmon de town!

I'd have been happy with 5th at the start of the season and realistically that's probably as good as we're going to do. Those losses to Mervue, Limerick and Monaghan have left us too far back for anything else. There's not much difference between finishing fourth or fifth anyway. I hope Hunt isn't badly injured as Conlon can't be trusted, is Rouse injured too?
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Hunty is waiting on X rays to come back but he did say he was doubtful of playing against Cork. He said it was a bad old knock and that there was blood under the knee cap but nothing broken it will all depend on how the week goes he reckons so hopefully hel be ok cause Longfordian is right Conlon cant be trusted and Im not a fan of Rouse either
