I doubt your friend saw McGrath falling down the street drunk last week. He was appointed Waterford United's Director of Football in February and from what I know he's sober since. I'm sure any Waterford fan could confirm this.
Hadn't heard anything about the big man in a while, not really since the fiasco on the flight to Japan. Anyway I spread news that isn't good. The big man is in a bad way, currently living and drinking heavily in Bray. A mate of mine literally saw him falling down the street about a week ago, and this was early afternoon. What a waste of a talent. Hers hoping he gets his **** back together again, the man is a legend..
Puts the whole Ray Houghton debate in perspective!

Perhaps he had just seen the first team in trainingOriginally Posted by eirebhoy
I'm aware of this, but I can guarantee you it was Paul McGrath. Unfortunately he's far from sober!Originally Posted by eirebhoy
Absolutely nobodys business except his own! He's not public property!
Correct, but very sad to see...Originally Posted by corkharps

Fair Enough lads, Paul McGrath is currently down at the RSC drinking hot cocoa with the chairman, that sound more reasonable for you. I'm not spreading f***** rumours here, I was just sharing some information with people who care about irish football regarding a legend. If you don't want to believe it so be it..Originally Posted by Macy

McGrath was at the Waterford match on Friday and sounds sober to me:
When McGrath gets drunk he's drunk for weeks, if not months. He doesn't go on one nighters and suddenly turn up for work the next morning.“I don’t think it was to bad a performance. The goal we conceded was rather silly. The ball was knocked in and it was not cleared. Fair play to Jason Byrne for the manner in which he took the goal but he got far to much space.
“Dan Connor was superb for us tonight, he really was. We had chances during the course of the game but unfortunately we just could not take them. Shelbourne are a good side and we must take the positive approach by remembering that we created quiet a few good chances against them and that’s good.
“On another night we possibly would have put those chances away but sadly on this occasion it was not to be. It is vital now that the boy’s settle during the course of the coming week and be mentally prepared for the game with Derry City, something I am sure they will do. We need a win against Derry just to get out spirit back if anything. As I said we did not play badly here tonight and I have no doubt that the lad’s will go out with all guns blazing at our place next Friday’’.
