Some stories are beyond parody - maybe it's a devious Anfield plot to kill off Fergie through fits of laughter.
Just proves one of the most important lessons in life: it's not what you know, but who you know. Or put another way, you don't need to be good, you just need to align yourselves with good people.
Maybe I'm doing Stan a disservice, maybe he actually can coach.
I wish him luck.
I think his boat has sailed, and I can't see him ever managing at a high level again, but here's hoping he improves dramatically. Some of the Irish club managers out there seem to give more of a chance to Irish players, and if he manages to rise to a position where he's giving Irish players a better standard of football to play, I'd be happy.
All the best Stan. Not his fault he was thrown in at the deep end. Anyone of us would have taken the job having had no experience.
Hopefully working alongside Daglish in an environment he's comfortable in will help him progress. Would like to see him do well and he has a fair way to go.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?
"No, I drink to help me mind my own business....can I get you one? (c) Ronnie Drew
Best of luck to him, unlikely as it all seems. Id imagine he will be out on the back pitches passing on that wealth of international and club experience rather than anywhere near a microphone though.
I saw the 'Staunton set for Liverpool role' headline on the IT site just under the headine "Limerick man charged over buggery with dog", I'm not sure which is more bizarre.
“I can’t speak to the club at the minute because they are on their pre-season tour,” said Staunton. So the entire Liverpool organization has gone on tour to a location with no access to phone /e-mail - that sounds like Limerick city of knives and alleged dog buggerers.

Harsh on him, the man was a legendary player and captain. He's got his coaching badges and knows the scene. Unfair to judge him on a management job he shouldn't have been given to begin with, it was far too soon.
Hope he does well though could see Dalglish gone within 18 months.
Best of luck to Stan. Hope he does well. Mario Rosenstock will have a field day here
Perhaps Liverpool are trying to level up the playing field....
Good luck Stan, though.
Best of luck to him. If he's concentrating on one or two areas, like set-piece takers etc, he could be a good coach.
once his coaching is managed properly
Folding my way into the big money!!!
Maybe he'll learn how to talk, from Dalglish! ha ha!
"A silent mouth is sweet to hear"
The guy is a legend and always will be a legend in my eyes for what he did as a player for our country. A legend times 101 to be exact. He deserves a break and to be given a chance
I find it very sad that his short tenure as Ireland manager and how badly it ended , still gives some people a reason to take the p*ss out of the guy.
His spell as Ireland manager was in no uncertain terms a disaster ....but a disaster imo that was aided by some of the clowns in the FAI that hid away in the boardroom after Sir Bobby got very ill into his tenure as Stans supervisor and had to step away from his role.
With Sir Bobby's illness happening so quickly, in reality the FAI should have shown some cojones and got in a replacement to help stan out.
If im honest , i dont think Stan has the makings to ever be a good manager but under the right guidance he may well prove to be a useful coach.
With Steve Clarke at anfield , I have no doubt Stan will learn alot and I really hope it works out for him
All the best Stan

If Staunton showed even an ounce of contrition for the awful job he did as manager of Ireland, then I'd say he doesn't deserve the ****-taking. But I don't recall him ever saying anything remotely capable of placating the fans. In fact, he's talking up how well he did during the week! We pay for his big pay-off through high ticket prices. I loved him as a player but think he's an incompetent, deluded ***** as a coach/manager/man.
What Yard of Pace said - I'm not denying he was a legend as a player for club and country, it just seems a major step up from working with Walsall, he can only improve with time, but I'd have thought he'd need to learn his trade in the Championship before one of the elite would take a chance on him.
