Siouxsie and the Banshees "Cities in Dust"
Right, I have 7 free tracks on 7digital but I can't decide what to buy, because I'm just plain crap at music -- I never know what to buy, so I always end up buying something I already had (or have!).
So help me out here, give me some guidance, 7 new bands or artists to love. I'm not even going to tell you what I like, I just want 7 of the best tracks ever, with the sole requirement that they must be available on 7digital.
Please? Pretty please with various drugs and hookers on top?
Siouxsie and the Banshees "Cities in Dust"
I approached this from the point of view of me having unlimited money for the site and no music at all of my own at the moment - these are probably the first 7 songs I'd buy (no doubt I'll come up with others that should be on the list seconds after posting).
Tom Waits - Ruby's Arms (from the album Heartattack and Vine)
Mercury Rev - Opus 40 (from Deserter's Songs)
Neil Young - After the Goldrush (from After the Goldrush)
Sigur Ros - Hoppipolla (from Takk...)
Creedence Clearwater Revival - As long as I can see the light (from Cosmo's Factory)
Substitution: The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out (from The Queen is Dead)
The Who - Real Good-lookin Boy (from Then and Now)
Withdrawn: John Lennon - Watching the Wheels (from Double Fantasy) (Couldn't find the original album on there).
Deerhunter - Helicopter
Caribou - Lord Leopard
Pavement - Grounded
The Dismemberment Plan - Timebomb
Arab Strap - The First Big Weekend
PJ Harvey - Dress
Dodos - Good
Off the top of my head, some of it's fairly new-ish and they all appear to be on there.

Ou-est le Centre George Pompidou?
I'm not really fulfilling the "new" part of the request but what the hell:
Arcade Fire - 'The Suburbs' - from "The Suburbs".
Rolling Stones - 'Gimmer Shelter' - from "Let it Bleed"
The Pixies - 'Hey' - From "Doolittle"
The La's - 'There She Goes' - from "The La's"
The Clash - 'London Calling' - from "London Calling"
Neil Young - 'Cinnamon Girl' - from "Decade" couldn't find EKTIN.
Stone Roses - 'I am the Resurrection' - from "The Stone Roses
Quoting years at random since 1975
Christ I could get lost in a site like that.
Anyway, after a quick skip through, I'll go a bit more electronic so, for a bit of an option. Here's 7 I'd have to have:
DJ Shadow - Blood On The Motorway (from The Private Press)
Massive Attack - Teardrop (from Mezzanine)
Chemical Brothers - Dissolve (from Further)
Mylo - In My Arms (from Destroy Rock And Roll)
LCD Soundsystem - All I Want (from This Is Happening)
Hot Chip - One Pure Thought (from Made In The Dark)
Phoenix - 1901 (from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix)
(only a couple of relatively new ones, but "of the best tracks ever"? Oh yes!)

more bass
I knew ye wouldn't let me down! Keep 'em coming folks, then I can look for commonalities and lay blame on as many people as possible if I dislike something.
Very impressive selection on that site. Went straight into the aul bookmarks.
Mark Lanegan - Mockingbirds
Madrugada - What's On Your Mind?
Grant Lee Buffalo - Wish You Well
The Gutter Twins - Idle Hands
Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter - Station Grey
Graveyard - As The Years Pass By, The Hours Bend
Witchcraft - If Crimson Was Your Colour
Relatively 'off the beaten track' selection there for the roving ear.
Some great choices here lads...
Off the top of my head cos that'[s the best way to do it and if I was to over think it I would end up spending weeks coming up with options
Arcade Fire- Sprawl II (Track of 2010)
Maximum Balloon- Young Love (Track of 2010 runner-up)
Pulp- Babies (Remarkable track that I always forget about until I hear it again and go WOW!)
Future Islands- Walking Through That Door (Stand-out song from my favourite album last year from the band that gave me the gig of last year)
The Horrors- A Sea Within A Sea (One of the greatest driving songs ever; cracking album as well)
Queens of the Stone Age- Avon (Just. One. Of. Those. Songs.)
My Bloody Valentine- Soon (One of the greatest songs I've ever heard from a band that makes the world a better place)
DID YOU NOTICE A SIGN OUTSIDE MY HOUSE...?
I came from the perspective of randomness is goodness. I have these so they are simply songs that excite me.
The GO! Team - Milk Crisis

Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock
I am not a Robot - Marina & The Diamonds
Faith No More - From Out of Nowhere
The Breeders - Cannonball

Martha Wainwright - Tower of song
Beirut - Postcards from Italy
Wilco - How to fight Loneliness
I am Kloot - Proof
dEUS - Little arithmetics
Simple Kid - Truck on.
My Goal Is To Deny Yours...
An odd journey through Brechtian cabaret, soul, alt folk/country, indie pop...
Solomon Burke – Diamond in Your Mind
Scott Walker - The Old Man's Back Again (Dedicated To The Neo-Stalinist Regime)
Suede – Saturday Night
Joe Pernice – Bum Leg
Belle and Sebastian – The State I Am In
The Dresden Dolls – Lonesome Organist Rapes Page-Turner
Camera Obscura – Razzle Dazzle Rose
Alice In Chains - Rotten Apple
Nick Cave - Lime Tree Arbour

Sigur Rós - 'Svefn-g-englar'
Jaga Jazzist - 'One-Armed Bandit'
Cowboy Junkies - 'Blue Moon Revisisted (Song for Elvis)'
Amon Tobin - 'Sordid'
Would have recommended 'Dirty Boy' by the Cardiacs, but it doesn't appear to be on there. Or 'Mongrel ... Meets His Maker' by DJ Shadow; only problem is it's split into two tracks.
