From AGM: Leeside (x2), Wilton (x2) and Kinsale gone. Led to same discussion as we had. What is happy medium between improving facilities in an environment of no money and football for anyone who wants it? No relegation from Prem or Prem A so assume Springfield up to Prem. Can't play in more than one divisional cup. Single reg forms now. Fees up by fifty quid. 51k in and 51k out for season leaving surplus of 500 quid or so. Blackstone went a bit overthehill on their new managerial appointment. Welcome and good luck.

Appreciate the good wishes Radio, presume they wont apply for at least 2 matches in the league? Big job ahead of us but all involved in Blackstone seem to be pulling in the same direction. John (speedy) ODonovan in as number 2 so there will be no nonsense with us. Looking forward to it!

Are leeside,Wilton, kinsale players from last year that played premier aul and some on the aul panel all going to drop to play senior league div 2 when majority of them could play premier elsewhere or the few better players play premier or div 1 senior?

I can't speak for all players but most players will prefer playing MSL - no wasted weekends playing 2nd and 3rd div teams in cup matches.
No big backlog of league games (our first league game was in february).
An opportunity to play on decent pitches every week with the chance to have a wash afterwards.

A no brainer if you ask me especially for those players with nothing else to prove in the AUL.
A new challange is often a good thing.

As for the Cork AUL team - not much interest to be honest. (not many of our players have been selected recently anyway). It usually meant more wasted weekends and bigger backlogs.

Bit harsh on the AUL shilts. Your club has been unfairly subject of facilities criticism in the past. I know how that feels when you know fellas are working hard behind the scenes.

As for the lower division games, part and parcel of football. I'm sure Avondale may think the same about games against teams from lower senior divisions. Someone should have stopped your high score game this season - helps neither of ye.

As for the Oscar Traynor side, I believe one or two declined.

It's like the discussion about summers being better growing up. Are we remembering player standards through rose tinted glasses? We didn't win the Oscar Traynor for 40 years!!

You make a good point about motivation. How do you motivate a guy with half a dozen league medals on his pocket? Easy for pros with physcology etc.

Why no involvement shilts? Behind scenes?

As far as i'm aware(I could be wrong) if a player is signed with a club they can player 5 games with another team in the club, whether it's junior, senior or even A and B in junior.

Backpass: "Thats the right thing to do. Good young team they are and will give anyone a game on their day.."

They are a fantastic side with some really good players, but both team have their own plans and chopping and changing squad can cause upset and doesn't help anybody.
If a club has a MSL team and an AUL team then players from these teams cannot play for each other as they are two different leagues and players cannot play for two leagues. Now if a club has Under 19 team and youth team then all these players can play for both teams once they are signed with both leagues and they dont count as part of the original panel of 23 of either team and can be used as often as required throughout the season.

Now if a club have a MSL team and a MJL team then the players on the MJL team can play 5 games for MSL team, but once they play the 5th game for the MSL team, then they cant play any more or they would not be able to play with the MJL team anymore without being regraded.

Time moves on - players can't be listening to the same guys forever.

As for the AUL - the whole set up needs to be looked at.
It's great for teams coming up through the divisions.
But for teams at the top of the AUL Premier, it is not that good.

First of all the facilities in general are poor.
Obviously they are worse the lower down the divisions you go, but in the AUL Premier you should expect somewhere to tog off and keep your clothes dry, have a wash after the game and be able to fill up water bottles for players to have a drink at half time.
I'm not suggesting Nou Camp standard facilities.
These basic facilities are not available at some Premier clubs.
In 2012 this is poor form.
Clubs are struggling to stay alive at the moment so it is unlikely that this problem will be sorted out anytime soon.

Not to mention the playing surface at some clubs. Some bordering on dangerous.

At the top of the AUL there is no promotion - this has resulted recently where a team like Kinsale (which I'm the first to admit is far removed from a Rockmount or Avondale) were handcuffed into a league that they were too good for (6 wins in 9 years).
The AUL actively discouraged any move to the MSL, even putting in place a ban on any teams transfering for a number of years.
    What was that about??
What did that ban actually achieve???
In all other divisions the champions get promoted and the rest have a better crack off it in the next year.
Putting a glass ceiling in place, halfway down the Cork soccer ladder, is anti- football and anti-competition.
Nobody should be walking around with 6 AUL Premier medals, just as nobody should be walking around with 6 AUL 3rd Division medals.
I'm not a GAA fan but if you win the junior county you play intermediate the next year.

The fixture set up needs to be looked at. It is not working!!!
Kinsale, who had a poor season by their standards, didn't start their league campaign until February
    This is crazy!

Months are wasted playing early rounds of the FAI Junior Cup and Munster Junior Cup against other AUL teams - usually Div 2/3 teams in the early rounds.
These often end up as cricket score games. (one 14-0 game this year for instance).
This wastes weekends where league games could be played.
Lower division teams should play the early rounds and byes should be given to those who qualified out of Cork the previous year (or some other system of byes).
I know that this is not an AUL problem to fix (but it does affect their affiliated teams)
Some effort could be made for the AOH Cup though.

If nothing is done all the progressive teams will walk.
Leeside, Wilton and Kinsale all ran for the door at the earliest opportunity when the MSL tore up the "arrangement".
    Who is next to go?
    Park, Coachford?
    Innishvilla maybe?

Who will the AUL be for in the future??
Glorified pub teams and GAA players who want to keep fit during the winter.
This is the direction it is heading in my opinion.

The Cork AUL should look at their Dublin AUL counterparts. They might learn a lot.

Congrads to Kinsale etc etc so on and so forth but can I ask you a question Shilts what did ye pay for the land ? Correct me if I'm wrong but would I be right in saying that's council land ? I might be wrong but u can correct me on that . If all clubs got council land like a good few clubs had we would all have great pitchs and dressing rooms
