its only at 11, rubbish !!! should be top 5 at least, the way that man just kept reinventing himself was amazing.

honky dory is top as well, but is very far down the list

Q Magazine did something similar, and put Def Maybe as No1, an album that improves with age, no doubt, but it would be the Roses for me too. The scally variety, not the spandex variety.

There was some new romantic stuff; ABC, Human League, Eurythmics.
British heavy metal is laughable, although black sabbath were there.
I don't know any good dance albums. More of a singles thing maybe?

Guess it depends on your defenition of dance, but screamadelica is there anyway. The Orb is noticeable by its absence alright.

Not a big metal fan, but would have thought that betwen Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon and others they were bound to have one or two good albums.

In fairness, they haven't one good song between them

Not a huge fan of Bowie or the Beatles, have a few of the albums however. The Stones are a different matter. Mind you, the manc albums obviously add to my total

nor did albums by a host of groups like the Spencer David Group, the Kinks, the Hollies etc. etc.

There are a couple of kinks albums there, and rightly so.
Don't know of any good album by the other two. Guess that's the difference.

It's a bit like Madness. Good band, great songs, but no album on the list.(IMO one step beyond deserved to be there)

While on my weeks break in the Caribbean I had a lot of time to think about this (actually I think about things like this quite a lot anyway.)

Its a fcuking disgrace that Pschocandy is not on this list.
However unfortunately when some people are asked to choose lists they tend to go anal retentive and try to show how much they understand this or that more than the public. For example sitting proudly at Number twenty is Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, which in parts in fine but in others is just at best experimental noise, and not very good experimental noise at that, compare this album to Isn't Anything by the same band which is an absolute fantastic album and not even mentioned.
For the record my top ten would run something like this, including non British and in no particular order;

Hatful of Hollow 'The Smiths'
Queen is Dead 'The Smiths'
If I Should Fall from Grace With God 'The Pogues'
It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back ' Public Enemy No 1'

OK Computer 'Radiohead'
The Clash 'The Clash'
Inflamable Material 'The Stiff Little Fingers'
