The thing is though- what can the MC achieve here? They can't get rid of Connor.

Maybe they shouldn't have made it public that they have no confidence in Connor- but then again they didn't have a lot to lose and there was always an outside chance that Connor would walk or the directors would remove him.

Also, coming from a newspaper person this sort of sounds like a "Give us juicy stuff to print" appeal!

It seems the Management Committee have decided that if his contract is with the board of directors they can pay his wages, leaving him without any wage for 8 weeks.

I'm sorry, can't support this approach. And yes I know it's the case with Rovers as well, but that doesn't make it better imo.

If I want to know what John Delaney's salary is, it doesn't take long to find out. If I want to find out what Trap's salary is, a simple search will tell me in seconds. If I want to know what a Spaniard, German, French player or coach in any top well-run league is paid, I'll know in no time. There's no secrecy, no mystery, and no shame in making those figures publicly available. If I want to find out what the Taoiseach, President, or other major public service figure is earning per year, not much digging is needed. There are even freedom of information requests available if you want to press the matter hard enough.

Are LOI salaries that low, that the people who turn up to watch their teams play and fund their wages are not allowed to know? If a journo wants to find out these figures, he'll make it his business and he'll get them. The world isn't going to end, and clubs are not going to fold, as a result of such information released into the public domain.

Maybe I missed it, but in listening to that interview the only related bit that I heard is that Seannie says he hasn't been paid in 7 or 8 weeks.

Irrespective of any divisive squabbling between two factions within the club, the reality is that if Galway are to get a licence for next season the manager must be paid any monies he is owed.

If not paying him is an intentional tactic this could backfire with an inflexible attitude when the licencing day arrives

Being a Dundalk fan I presume you already know this, but don't believe a word Connor says.

Are you saying that Galway are not in arrears on his wages or are you just making a general character attack statement?

Of course we're in arrears. Just that most of that interview is inaccurate.
