"Foregone conclusion" how was it that when St. Nicholas did everything in their power to get winner in last 10 minutes? There is a big difference between "preferred result" and "deliberately losing games" as quoted in an earlier post. Moyglass did not want to go up this is a "fact".

Sportsfan I think myself are going to completely disagree on this topic I can only go on what I have seen and heard from other clubs and posters and your obviously a st nicks supporter and you are quite entitled to defend them which I respect but I suppose the only people who can give the moyglass perspective is them themselves so if there is any moyglass lads on the forum it I think we would all like to heAr from you

Havent heard any on here rightboy but after Moyglass defeating St. Michaels B it was said to a member of Moyglass that they'd want to be careful or they will get the dreaded second spot. The response was we have two games left to make sure we dont. Rumours then surfaced that Ballingarry would not be able to field in last game so in second last game they were defeated at home by Old Bridge!! Also met a Moyglass player after the season and he said they were happy to remain in First Division. Fact of the matter whether it correct or not is that very little if any First Division teams want to go to Premier as runners up after seeing what happened Rosegreen St. Nicholas and Galbally in recent years. If promoted as winners at least there has been a major trophy won and this can keep the team together. Even though Galbally won both Shield and League last year they lost loads of players who had no interest in Premier and will struggle to get these players back this year. Rosegreen nearly went out of football. Yes i do agree this is not an ideal situation but after what happened these clubs this is what happens. Some will say sign players and train harder to get up to the standard to compete at the high level of Premier but this would also bring problems to these rural clubs.

lads id like everyone's opinion on this so please respond if you will. if you are a player getting togged off for a game and the manager walks in and says lads just give me 50% here today we dont want to win because we dont want to get promoted and play against the best teams in the county????? maybe this is why these clubs lose their players. any club that doesnt want to get promoted should be ashamed of themselves.

if that was said no one should sign for that team again and the manager should never be left incharge of another team as long as he lives.either give 100% or dont bother geting involved in soccer.

why is everyone slating st nicks on this?maybe the manager wanted to build a young team that might win a few games and toughen them up and prepare them for the premier, instead of getting hammered every week and they lose interest.could be a clever call.ambition is questioned look at their facilities?give em a break and start worrying about your own clubs and how you can match their facilities, when some clubs still shower at a river or shake a wet branch.

I'd have more respect Rushy for a club showering at a river or shaking a wet branch as you so smugly put it...if their players had the stomach for facing the big boys and gave 100% every week, honesty and endeavour are worth more than facilities in my book

Rushy12 I completely agree with you st nicks are one if the best progressive rural clubs grt pitch facilities and a lot of very good football people out there( I can remember playing on their old pitch beside the mines/ pits horrible place shows you how old I am ) and it's because of this progression/ ambition off the pitch that the lack of ambition on the field disappoints me
On another note the tsdl decision to allow one up / down for the premier will I believe long-term have a negative effect as teams will not have anything to play for wheter it be relagation / promotion why push on if your out of the top 2 in first division or if your safe in premier you might put out weaker teams which will effect title battle , this is worse case scenario I know but what u think lads am I overreacting

This rule will be voted on at next years AGM. It need 2 thirds majority to remain 1 up 1 down annually. Not sure it will have negative affect rightboy if the preference of most First Division teams is to remain in Division 1 unless winning the division. Also the clubs in Premier this year would wish to remain in same league as Cahir indicated to the TSDL committee. Therefore looks like 1 up 1 down suits the clubs involved.

I see St.Michaels, Wilderness, Nenagh AFC and Cashel Town through to semi-finals of Delaney Cup. Anybody know the semi-final draw?
