lads fair enough it is tough for a young fella to get on a town or saints first 11 but these lads can easily play b team football till they make the breakthrough. its just the simple matter that alot of them cant be arsed and drop out of the game. i know there is the arguement that cause of the jump from youth to junior is a big one and this causes the huge drop out of players. But my opinion is that any young lad who has played youth football in tsdl could easily play junior football in div 1,2,3,4 in tsdl. its just alot of them prefer not to give up there sat nights and pack in the footie, or concentrate on college, or gaa suits better being played in summer months etc etc any excuse really.

the arguement bout the bigger teams bringing in outside players is a no brainer really. this formula has worked for saint micheaels and town for years so there not gonna change it. the teams that stay 100% local eg oldbridge, borris, galbally etc may have a bit of success down in div 1 or the odd good cup run but they will never be a force in tsdl premier division
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

Saints as winners, fancy noel byrnes to bring in a few quality players in peake which will see them in top half easily, if cahir get the players who are been mentioned it can only be good and if cashel lose bargary and coleman they will be lucky to avoid relegation.

Ah lads, i just try'd to make out my predictions for the league but tis impossible at this stage, i will try again in a few weeks when i see and hear a bit more. I do expect Borris and Peake to doin well and causing upsets. It really has potential to be a good one, lets hope it delivers.
Many teams back training?, clonmel town are the only i have heard of...

Town have won 7 of the last 8 titles and Saints haven't won one in 8 years so has to be Town for me,they just have that consistency in the league BUT i think Saints have the strongest team they have had in years and in the FAI and Munster will be a massive force,i'll go

    Town
    Saints
    Celtic
    Borris
    Cahir
    Villa
    Wildies
    Cashel
    St Nicks

saints will win the league if they make it their num1 priority but they wont because no matter what they let on the fai and munster will still be number 1 and on their list irrespective of how many years it has been since they won it. the fai is the holy grail look to limerick when fairview used win the fai on a regular basis they didnt always win the league and even used the league to give the squad a run and keep their best 11 for the fai and munster.

Fairview never went 8 years without a league,Pike have won the league last few seasons despite the FAI being their clear target, winning the league helps you in the Fai,winning games breeds confidence at sll levels,Barca won the league and european cup,Saints have the squad to do it,they need to do it this year, too many years without being top dog for a massive club

When fairview won their 3 in row twice, they won the league as well,so that blows your point out of the water.fairview and pike ALWAYS try and win their league no matter what, when fairview were knocked out of mj and fai by pike they were still top of the league and remained there up until final games of the season.

Imagine having the arrogance to say the only reason Saints havent won the league is because its not a priority...but if they wanted to win it they would....hard to believe someone would actually post that, great points Boywonder and Bilko the top sides always want their league and of course i know the Saints players would agree, this is no slant on them

Hi lads very interesting posts on for the last few days I have to say to our great shame as a club that we haven't not treated the league title with the respect it deserves over the last 6/7 seasons and that's why we haven't won it in a while , last year town won it and deserved it even though saints made a big effort to win and I think we have got what deserved over our attitude towards the league but I know that has all changed within the club
Yes fai and mjc are a priority as they are for town pike Carrick etc but the title league champs has a good ring to it and I do know saints players are going to make a big effort for the league this year I know some of ye will be disgusted by our attitude to the league and you what lads ye would be right and we don't deserve to win league till our attitude was right and town deserve grt credit cause they treated league with the respect it deserves

I cannot believe that players intentionally try not to win a league,it's very very arrogant to say that as a club ye have shown no interest in winning a league,as you say great credit to clonmel and peake for winning the league, clonmel moreso,St michaels are coming up short all the time in fai,so maybe they should start concentrating a bit more on their league for a change!!!!.I still don't believe that they don't try and win their league though.

I didn't say players didn't want to win it and didn't not try what I said was the clubs / managements attitude were the team was changed dramatically in league games players rested etc, as for comparing fai to league performance that's a non runner your talking fai / munster would be 4/5 levels above league in terms of pace intensity pressure we have contested last 2 fai finals where we lost on penos after a grt performance and last year a couple of mistakes cost us against pike where both teAms were very matched and don't forget we are mjc champions as I said I'm not agreeing with club attitude to league and we have got what we deserved on another note I bet the league is not towns priority either?!

you are talking an amazing amount of rubbish. players rested for league games?? nonsense. saints dont have the squad for that. they have the most settled team in the league. have a bit of class as a club for once, ye havent been good enough to win a league. just admit it and people might start respecting your club a little bit more

saints only rotated at the end of season when league was gone against wildies and celtic. Having seen most of there games flipper, tobin, higgy, chalkie, breeno, cooper,pa quinn,j carr, richie ryan started id say 80% of league games. they obviously rotated abit when you have a squad of 16 top players due to injuries and keeping lads happy but when you have likes of foggy, shane guerin, johney connery on the bench your not weakening your team. ridiculous statement saying saints put out weakened team in the league. im sure if you looked at teams town put out over the season there team selections would be far more inconsistent ( for various reasons) to the settled saint selections over the course of the season. so that arguement does not stand up.

My opinion for what it is worth is that saints should go all out for there league get back being top dogs in tsdl and then the fai will come.
this is not a dig at saints by the way they are a great club and still achieved unbelievable success last season in winning delaney cup, mjc and tipp cup
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!
