As I have alluded to in previous post... it's all well and good signing players from outside your own area but you must remember you are not going to get too much loyalty when you get a poor run of form. Rats and sinking ships come to mind.
Question for Town supporters, is it possible that some of the local players left because of the influx of the many outsiders joining? Also by signing to many non locals are you losing a clubs true identity for the sake of success?

I have seen sides with all local players really struggle too when results go against them so its not just as easy say everyone left cause they were not local. when a team is struggling week in week out some fellas dont want to know.Unfortunatly Its just the make up of attitude of a % of modern day junior players. In most clubs there are the players who will just dissappear when going gets tough and the ones that stay through thick and thin have to be admired. Admittingly it must be very hard to travel long distances to play out a season for no silverware but at the end of the day these players would have no problem doing the same journey if they were still in fai or top of the league.
The local lads who left Clonmel in the past few seasons have been a major loss. But most of these left of there own accord and the club done its best to replace them.Unfortunatly the replacements are now almost all gone and all thats left is loyal servants like raymie condon, shanahan and scully and bunch of young lads. They have no choice now but to give youth a chance with the first team and im sure with a year or two of rebuilding they can get back to the top again and compete
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

You have to keep your identity, as a local club. The older generation of Town have that. We have had imports with some sucess (McSharry) and some failures. It was a source of major pride to the club in 2004 that everyone of the panel was from Carrick and still is today with just one player from Waterford City. Teams in the Waterford City have no identity as players hop from one club to the other regularly even Tramore are now diluted which they never where just in search of silverware. Hopefully Town can get back on track next season.

Balls your point is well made and in the most part I agree with you.... I believe Town just had to many outsiders at the one time, every team can integrate 2/3 without losing the local identity and those players chosen correctly can have a hugh influence within the club. I believe in the longterm town with the old core (all class players IMO) integrated with the new young talent will profit in the long run. How will the returning players to old clubs be viewed, the Villa boys had just won a league before they left, will the loyal servant who had to suffer a poor season 2010/11 be happy.... now that they return when the club is returning to strength and should challenge for league next season if they retain what they have built to date?

Yes very true and to be admired the success Carrick had with local talent and most of it achieved when Rock was still in existence and nearly always had a decent team..

The returning villa players left previously to join Kilkenny in similar circumstances and again peake were left in the lurch but a great sign of the club that they have rebuilt twice in say 5 or 6 years. Clonmel town should take inspiration from villa they way they came back from mass amounts of players leaving and the villa done this without the resources of top youth players that town have in the ranks. Its not nice to talk about players being welcomed back or not, but as said earlier the ones that stay really should be admired. Hate mentioning names but alan leahy for peake is great servant in good and bad times and im sure when the good times do come around, lads like him appreciate and value there medals alot more and rightly so. On a final note as its junior football dont think its fair to be slagging and naming players for leaving there clubs so i will be refraining from commenting on this topic in future. only a game at the end of the day and if these players were not some of the best in tsdl other clubs would not be looking for there services. So realistically as most of us when playing were probably never in demand its easy for us to comment about loyalty

So you think that a junior player who is offered payment to play and test themselves at a higher level should be looked on as some sort of turncoat. These players wanted to try league of ireland with kilkenny and junior clubs should be happy that they have produced players with the ability to do so. Your opinion sounds very bitter and smallminded to me. Nobody should begrudge a player the chance to play at a higher level . To do so is quite sad. On players moving between junior clubs the buck stops with the managers, and it always does. It is not the players faults in clonmel whats going on at the moment, everybody and the dogs on the street know what the problem is

i never said i had a problem with the players leaving to play league of ireland, every top junior player should aim to play if at all possible logistically. i only brought in the fact about kilkenny exodus from peake when a previous poster mentioned would they be welcomed back and i was just stating that some of the players were welcomed back in similar circumstances in the past. I am far from small minded and am probably more a league of ireland football fan than a tsdl one so go easy with calling people sad "the wombat". Happy new year to you 2 fella

The loyalty thing in junior football is always something that interests me,there has to be something to be loyal to,for example if you play with Saint Michaels you are playing with one of the countries finest teams and the same goes for Town so its a lot easier be loyal to that than for example if you play with Borris or Villa and the club goes from year to year in different states, sometimes a shambles and sometimes strong, players have short careers and its important to play in Fai finals or Munster finals, thats my twopence worth

I heard that Ronan Stanley has moved to Peake Villa as well. There hasn't been an exodus like this since Moses led the Israelites from Egypt the night of the Passover. Some scenes.

"You gotta call me man, I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose
Sincerely yours, Stan, P.S. We should be together too." Last words

Town played well in a 1-0 win against Cahir Park today. Dave McGrath was hungry, he was fed, and he scored. All thoughts of going to Fairview are surely behind him.

On a more serious note, the Cahir goalkeeper Slattery, prone to the odd howler, sliced the ball to McGrath at one stage. With an open goal, Dave went to hit it on his left but fell over. The capacity crowd erupted with laughter. Ray Condon said it was the funniest thing he's seen in all his days in the TSDL.

There's whispers that Tony Davis could make a Paul Scholes-esque return to football. Scholes is a pure helmet

Good game, i dont think the scoreline really did peake any justice, they were close for an equaliser a few times in the second half but just couldnt put the ball in the net... michaels had that bit of class late on to win the penalty to make it 3-1 and clincher to make it 4-1.
Villa are strong but michaels just top class.
