Great night for the Saints, Rovers Dundalk Sligo and Derry all dropping points
On our game we weren't great but still much better than Galway should have been 5 or 6, Danny North does it again

Here on a technicality.
another entertaining game in United park for our first home win in over a year! We are unrecognisable from the team we were sending out even a few short weeks ago. Confidence is such a huge part of football and you can see our lads are now brimming with it. We played some nice stuff in very slick conditions. Mulvenna has made such a big difference to us as well (thanks very much Duns) - he and Dinny Corcoran are linking up brilliantly up front.
Having said all that we were lucky to get a quick 2nd straight after UCD scored their equaliser, as they were well on top at the time. Still, only 3 points off the students now![]()

Enjoyed the game in Tallaght last night. Griffen looks a really good player up front for Dundalk, his movement is excellent, he's quick and he never stopped working. I was watching him before the ball came into the box for his second goal and he made about three different runs to lose his marker and took the header brilliantly. Rover played well in spells and could have been in front at half time, but Dundalk were much more clinical with their chances and were excellent on the break.
Dan Murray was having a nightmare for Rovers and they looked more solid when he was replaced, it looked like he was limping after the game, but that might have been to save face, it wouldn't look too good for the captain and centre half to be taken off because he was having a stinker. Greg Bolger was excellent in the middle for Dundalk and completely dominated against a disappointing Finn and O'Donnel, they don't look like a pairing that will work at all, despite some high hopes, neither is a natural ball winner and O'Donnel looks to have lost a bit of pace so he can't cover the ground in front of the back four well enough to allow Finn to get forward.
Turner and Dennehy both held their nerve well in the end to take their chances and Rovers will definitely be the happier of the two with the point, they didn't play at all well for long patches of the game and O'Neill will have to reconsider his central midfield pairing, Finn just isn't effective in a 4-4-2, Gary O'Neill must be nearing his last chances up front too, despite his hold up play being excellent at times he doesn't ever look like scoring and his missed chances are starting to be costly. Twigg is not exactly pulling up trees either, and I'd imagine Sheppard an Kilduff must be putting pressure on them to start.
Sorry to hear about Dundalk fans having some bother afterwards, the Gardai seem to be getting a bit complacent lately, having managed the crowds extremely well for the most part since the stadium opened.

Would agree with all that except I thought Dundalk deserved to be ahead at half time. Both teams had chances but Dundalks created the better ones. Quigley missed an absolute sitter before they scored. Dundalk really should have won. The fact that they didnt was down to Foster as far as im concerned.

Maybe so but the man cant make the changes that other teams can, we are limited to what goes out on the pitch, the bench week in week out is full of kids, Guthrie was the only sub he could have made last nigth but hes been a complete liability this season. Maher was on the bench but hes only back from a bad injury and has had 1 30 min spell in a friendly last Sunday over the last 3 months. The players looked jaded towards the end of the match and rightly so they covered so much ground last night and have been doing the same the past month or so. Bolger was my man of the match, won everything in midfield. Brillaint performance. Griffin was excellent and its great to see we have an other option now other than Jason Byrne. Think he will learn alot more and we will be seeing and hearign alot more from him ver the coming seasons.
It doesnt matter who he had on the bench, you needed to break the game up. Its the oldest tactic in football. All the subs would have had to do is mark and hoof if they got the ball not do anything constructive. He could have basically made the time added on a non event and he didnt. What does that say to the Dundalk subs for the rest of the season. If you are playing its only because we are stuck. Brutal management by Foster.

Similar thing happened against Pats last Monday. Pats made changes, took over and won. Dundalk didn't make a change (from the 3 outfield players they had on the bench)

I hate when people go on crying about fans not been held back long enough. If your not clobbered up or looking for it you have any trouble the majority of the time and then if you do run into "trouble" it will just be a bit of shouting, chanting, etc
This man has done so much for Shamrock Rovers: http://foot.ie/members/700-tippex
Duno who thats directed at but we where not lookign for trouble last night, left the ground straight away after the match, along with every other person at that game last night, went across the main road into the car park of the shopping centre and scumbags came legging it up the road and set upon one chap! He tried to walk away but they kept banging into him and pulling him back and then started punching him for no reason other than him wwearing a DFR tracksuit! So yeah both sets of fans should be let out at different times, as is the case in most grounds! But thats twice now in Tallaght this season our lot where let out at the same time as the home crowd!
