The crowd pike beat, bellurgan play in the aul premier.

As for Aisling having an advantage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe, to start off with, but to make things even for all clubs..........why dont the LDMC hold the coming season's Touhy Cup in Aislings ground under floodlights (if they have them) , with Aisling's first round game being played last in order to give their opponents enough time to get used to the surface (and their players enough time to get moulded boots), and from there on its a win win for all concerned, all teams in the tournament will get more game/s to play on it and get used to it for the more important league games.
it is a good idea and i'm not knocking it but don't most if not all premier tems train on similar surfaces during the winter months anyways abbeyvale?

Has anyone thought of the consequences of this ridicoulous new rule?? firstly it will be a long time before a Limerick team win a provincial or national cup.. secoundly any kid a club has brought up thru the ranks and is good enough to attract the attentions of Limerick will more than likely not be able to come back to his club if he is classed as ex league of Ireland as any of the top clubs will have their quota filled.. and is that what it takes to catch fairview and pike a rule change? pike fairview Boro have earned the right to be the top clubs as it took years to build tradition and the vision to have a bar shower and dressing rooms and quality playing surfaces and yet clubs who havnt the tradition or the facilities to attract the best players come together with a stupid rule to even things out.. it takes time lads and hard work to be a top club not a rule change that stops genuine lads old and young from playing football in this town.. the rule should have been any current league of Ireland senior player cannot play junior when their season ends in November until the following august..

How many players though came through the ranks with Pike and Fairview (the two teams with predominantly ex-loi players), not that many I'd say. If anything the rule might encourage a lot of ex-LOI players to return to the clubs they came through the underage with and not just join Pike and Fairview. In saying that the U19 and A team part of the rule is still stupid and the rule needs to be tweaked. It will open up a lot of complaints from teams saying a club fielded 5 players, some of whom played ten seconds of U20 LOI about 5 years ago and stupid objections like that.

Agree 100%..it's riduclous and should never have been carried, maybe the fai will have something to say on it,after all they are the ruling body and they don't have that rule.

If it wasn't for those junior clubs you mention limerick wouldn't be in existence now, don't ever forget that, fairview and pike supplied the whole limerick team few years ago,the whytes, kev McCarthy,Dec Casey,e hickey,Connie,e walsh,r Hanrahan and a few more.

    So?

Smaller junior teams supply the players for Pike and Fairview are they eternally grateful for that?

Even though Fairview do bring through a lot of very good players from their under-age teams.

A lot of Pikes FAI winning team were with Limerick recently are ye grateful to Limerick for that?

I agree with you on a young player not coming back to play for a club, but tradition ha your having a laugh. Its all about money, nothing got to do with tradition.

What has that got to do with anything? Where in my post did I say Limerick didn't get players from Pike and Fairview? Your point in this thread makes no sense at all and you seem to be trying to make an arguement from nothing.

Plenty of clubs have supplied Limerick with players down through the years not just those two clubs by the way.

As Bluewhitearmy says Limerick have gotten players from top junior teams and the top junior teams have gotten players from the weaker junior sides thats football.

Very few teams have players coming from underage right up to junior and if they are quality players stay with the club.

We got some from Junior very little from Pike recently id say.

Who in Pikes squad came up through the Pike ranks?

Do Pike and other big junior teams go around thanking the smaller junior teams whos players they take as you seem to want Limerick to do?

Its called progressing and taking a step up you step up from the small junior teams to the likes of Fairview and Pike if your good enough then you step up from that to LOI if your good enough.

Read Jofs post says it all really.

Thats a very good point have any of the clubs put in a motion for an E.G.M. to be called to amend the rule.

did limerick ever thank pike for keeping them in football, when everyone else in this town turned their backs on limerick was it not pike that provided them with a field,a groundsman and on occassions a kitman ,and before u ask it was all free of charge because limerick had nothing,so i dont think pike need to be grateful to limerick for anything

Ye are a gas shower. Ye are starting an arguement from nothing lads. Show me where we have said Pike have never done anything for Limerick. Show me where we have said any club in Limerick has never done anything for Limerick.

I love all this short memory stuff. No one has said anything about Pike never doing anything for Limerick but some how we suddenly have short memories and would want to realise what Pike have done for Limerick. Grow up lads and stop trying to make arguements out of nothing.

This discussion was about players progressing from one club to another if it meant going up a level i.e lower division junior, up to premier and up to LOI but some how ye turned it into Limerick vs Pike.
