dammit, Houghton was going to be my next pick!
I'll go with Denis Irwin (assuming he's still available?)
I select....
Ray Houghton
"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.
Metrostars it was before anybody else started the second round but anyway I'll help EAFC if he wants with the older players
With a squad made up of players like Green, McShocking and Kilbad we are going places. Down the gutter.........
I want to draft paul butler!!!!!!!
also joe O'Cearuill soon my squad wil be worse than galway!!!
Would it not be fairer if the people picking players each got a chance to pick first one week?
Say, week 1 is
1. Murfinator
2. Sullivinho
3. SwanVsDalton
.
.
9. Fixer 82
10. Metrostars
and then week 2 is
1. Metrostars
2. Murfinator,
3. Sullivinho
.
.
10. Fixer82
Then Week 3 is
1. Fixer82
2. Metrostars
3. Murfinator
.
.etc
And so on, with each poster dropping one position each week. This way, if the tournament has ten rounds, everybody has a go at picking a player from each of the 10 positions.
Both ways have their good points. The problem with everyone getting number pick is that for the person who starts at number 10, it will take 10 rounds for him to get to the top. The "top-down, bottom-up" method that we are using is fairly even e.g. it's great to go number 1 but then you have to wait 18 picks before you go again while if you're number 10 you have to wait for your first pick but then you get to go twice. But overall it evens out.
It is Murfinator's turn now but he hasn't picked yet. Should we make a 24 hour limit and then skip to the next person and whenever he gets back he can make his pick? Otherwise this might get bogged down.
Don't forget that the goal would be for each person create a team with a 4-4-2 formation with a goalkeeper.

Wouldn't they both be fairly even? Since it would the number 2 person would be the one waiting longest to get first pick. But they'd have been a decent pick anyway in the first few rounds. Not that I mind either way, you're the one running the show and I'm happy enough (apart from about not getting Kevin Moran...).
Ou-est le Centre George Pompidou?
Metrostars way is much more balanced.
First six picks:
1 gets 1, 20, 21, 40, 41, 60 = 183
5 gets 5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55 = 180
10 gets 10, 11, 30, 31, 50, 51 = 183
osarun's way
1 gets 1, 12, 23, 34, 45, 56 = 168
5 gets 5, 16, 27, 38, 49, 60 = 197
10 gets 10, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55 = 175
Not as balanced at all.
I'm facing a similar tactical issue..
If ya happen to skip Murfinator I'll take Giles. If Giles is already gone I'll take John Sheridan. I want my team to be a team that plays good attractive football and get bums on seats. Thanks you
Folding my way into the big money!!!
I have Giles.
Metro, could you post the picks after each 10 person round.
John sheridan it is!
Folding my way into the big money!!!
OK it's been over 24 hours since Tets made his pick so we can skip over Murfinator and accept Fixer82's pick for John Sheridan. Murfinator can make his second round pick whenever he gets back online.
Players taken after two rounds:
Fixer82: Shay Given, John Sheridan
Murfinator: Roy Keane, TBD
tetsujin1979: Liam Brady, Denis Irwin
Metrostars: Paul McGrath, Ray Houghton
SwanVsDalton: Robbie Keane, David O'Leary
BonnieShels: Johnny Giles, Andy Townsend
Sullivinho: Damien Duff, Kevin Moran
EAFC_rdfl: Frank Stapleton, Ronnie Whelan
So fixer82, you're up again for the start of Round 3.

Sorry for the delay
The honey monster for me! =D
Keane and Dunney - your team won't be shy of yellow cards anyway.
