Top Footie Film of all time

UCI Cinemas have recently compiled a survey, canvassing 2000 moviegoers on the best footie flick of all time. Heres the top 10.
1. Escape To Victory.(1981) 29%
2. Bend it like Beckham (2002) 18%
3. Fever Pitch.(1997) 13%
4. When Saturday Comes (1996) 12%
5. I.D.(1995) 9%
6. Cup Fever (1965).7%
7. The Arsenal Stadium Mystery.(1940)5%
8.Theres only one Jimmy Grimble.(2000) 4%
9. Mean Machine (2001 Vinnie Jones version) 2%
10. Football Factory (2004).1%

Of these I've only seen no.s 1,2,3 & 5.
I.D. for me was by far the best.
Bend it like Beckham is a chick flick, not a footie movie!!
The Arsenal Stadium Mystery sounds like a Current Affairs programme.It actually was a flick though...honest!!

Whatever way you look at that list basically just proves been bogger all good footie movies.

Ah the memories of Escape to Victory on the big screen.
Twas worth it for Michael Caines belly playing centre half and Sly Stallone's facial expressions making that all important penalty save in slow mo.

and of course Pele's overhead kick with one arm in a sling that starts the comeback. Ossie Ardiles, John Wark, Bobby Moore...brilliant!

I was sure that was a 70's movie but even if it was released in 81 I was still to young to go to the flicks.

Shaolin Soccer hasn't been released over here yet. I got a rip of it on my PC (unfortuntely without subtitles) but it's mental.

Basically a Shaolin monk recruits all his ex-shaolin mates, who all have normal day jobs now, to form a football team and beat the evil team and win some trophy. It could be the World Cup, to be honest I've no idea.

"The Game Of Their Lives" based on the USA beating England in the 1950 World Cup is supposed to be coming out later this year. Check out this trailer, looks good:

From that top 10 list i reckon i've seen 1,2,3,4,5,7,8 and 9. or all of them apart from cup fever and football factory. most of them aren't great, ID is pretty decent and i thought 'theres only one jimmy grimble' was good.
