Home v Cork City Monday May 30th 2011

Best defence v best attack in division one.

I'll go with a 1-1 draw seeing as though Cork are still unbeaten in the league.

Longford to drop points away to Mervue, but Shels should win away at Wexford Youths and Monaghan should do likewise at home v Finn Harps.

    1 Cork City 12 7 5 0 24 / 8 26
    2 Shelbourne 11 8 2 1 20 / 9 26
    3 Monaghan United 11 7 3 1 21 / 11 24
    4 Limerick 12 7 3 2 16 / 6 24
    5 Longford Town 12 7 1 4 15 / 9 22
    6 Waterford United 12 5 1 6 10 / 9 16
    7 Mervue United 12 4 2 6 15 / 18 14
    8 Athlone Town 12 3 3 6 4 / 17 12
    9 Finn Harps 12 1 3 8 7 / 18 6
    10 Wexford Youths 12 2 0 10 12 / 24 6
    11 Salthill Devon 12 1 3 8 6 / 21 6

I've a bad feeling about this game but will look on the positive side.

We have ground out results recently that we wouldn't have in previous seasons. Our back 4 look excellent. Cork will come and hopefully try to play ball which should make it a more open game than some matches this season. Upfront is the only place killing us at the moment with no one looking like going on a consistent goal streak. Breen could add some much needed speed to our attack.

Being optimistic Limerick 1-0 Cork , being realistic 1-1, that or an absolute hammering which unless we totally implode I can't see happening.

Never mind the kids, if we start like we did the last time Cork played here and are 3-0 down after 15mins then we'll be all heading over to the bouncing castle.

I wonder will the Monday affect the travelling support. With it being a handy trip I'd say we could be looking at them bringing the 200 mark? Throw into that about 500 home fans possibly.

As a goalscorer yes....as a player no way. One of our best this season.

If your talking as a player and not just scoring then id wonder if you have seen Limerick this year. One of our best players this year.

I hope Steve is fit for this even though he is in bad form he is our best hope of taking the chances...Could be worth starting Breen he looked lively lastnight.

    Monday night is a pain.
I usually organise a bus but am driving down for the first time, any route/parking recommendations?

Id say the train station would be the best place to park they used to have paking in a supervalu or something right across the road from the lads but not sure if thats still available.

I leave my car over by the park and have never had any bother.

aw lads stop he is cat he works hard granted but his position is striker he does not score goals he is very average in the air for a big man. not good enough for a promotion seeking team he would be handy at athlone or somebody around that level.

He has been a handfull for most teams we have played, he is surprisingly skillful for a big guy but gets let down by his pace. In the 12 games so far this season he has been poor in about 2. He wins a lot of ball for us and the likes of Judge have been brought into the game by his flick ons and knock downs. He chases down very well too. If O'Flynn and O'Connor had put in the effort so far this season that he has then I think we would be banging in a lot more goals.

Well he has played more matches on the wing for us then up front.

He wins most headers he goes for ive never seen him lose too many headers.

He has been starting most of attcks and setting up a few goals. He wasnt brought in to score goals he was brought in to do the work to make it easier for Steve to score he did his part its O'Flynn thats letting it down.

If hes not good enough for a promotion seeking team then how has he manged to be one of our best players?

The Athlone thing doesnt even deserve an answer.

Hes playing just as well as any of the people you just named....

Its one thing having an opinion on a player but the whole he belongs at Athlone or Parkville C thing is sad.

I thought you just didnt rate him but after them stupid comments i think ill have to agree with capello that you really haven'ta clue. That or you haven't seen Limerick or Hynesy play much this year.

What part of the ground do people shout for hm to be taken off by the way cos ive never heard it and i know lads that are over behind the dug outs and behind the goals by the shop that say they have never heard it?
