Why should abbeyfeale be beating west cork league opposition? Excuses of Gaa don't wash, a good performance by a WCL team who are only just getting going in their season, well done Bunratty, watch out Pike

Abbeyfeale utd were missing 7 players due to gaa..they are favourites to win the county football as they are in the county semi final and were told not to play against bunratty..a handy draw for pike in the next round

Thought as much. What a shame.
When a chance comes for a club to pit themselves against the better teams something like this happens. It's the guys who run the these clubs and have worked hard to make football available for people who I feel sorry for.
However, I agree with you that if a guy wants to play football and is told not to do so because of another code it does not say much for him.

Agree with you. Fact of the matter though is most players involved in both codes, gaa and soccer, gaa will get first choice. Its a cultural thing, bred into the brain from schooldays e.g. the national game, for the parish, etc etc. It will always be that way, especially in rural areas. Sadly, in this case, it shows disrespect to this new and prestigious competition.

We also had the same issue last week where players chose hurling over football but that is their decision. When you sign players who are involved in both codes then that is the chance you take. We fulfilled the fixture with the lads available to us, and they gave a very good account of themselves. We would love to have travelled with a full squad to choose from because if we did we would be still in it.

Dual codes will always clash and imo the players themselves will decide what they do on the day.
Pressure being applied from either faction is unfair.
    I'll update this next year.

I understand and the fact that in rural areas, especially, you dont have the pick available in urban centres.
That is one of the main reasons why lads from the country go and join the bigger clubs because football is the number one.

It's a pity really for the other abbeyfeale players who wanted to win the game and now missed their chance to play pike rovers in the next round

    QFinal
    Tile King v Kinsale
    Sat 2.30 ko

Big game this weekend for us.
We've never come across Tile King before so I don't know how good they are.
We will be giving them plenty of respect though.
Any league champions would be dangerous on their own turf.

    Quite a mismatch here.
This game was done and dusted early on and was blown up with 20 mins left.

Great to make it to the semis tho

Pike play winners of clonmel town and Killarney Celtic,TSDL played OT yesterday so I presume that's why it didn't go ahead yesterday, according to tsdl forum though it was a St michaels selection against cork, players from St michaels B were called into the squad.
