I don't think she would've recieved any votes if people had been forced to watch her on Questions & Answers a few weeks before the election. Mind you O'Donoghue made her look good the other night....

Basically this is because we come from a land starved of decent looking women. I was in Prague at the weekend on a stag-do, and practically every single czech girl under 40 was amazing looking. We have allowed ourselves to even consider that below-average birds that get their mugs on the box are good looking.
That Sharon Ni Bheolain is a bit of alright, and Lisa Burke, the sky weather girl is mighty fine too. Amanda Byram had her moments, but unfortunately there is a large population out there that consider the Ann Doyles, Miriam O'Callaghans andMary Kennedys of this world extremely shaggable.Come on lads...please!!!

I think that's Claire Byrne? Used to present Ireland AM and was previosly a newscaster on Channel 5.

As for Mary Lou she's not good looking, she comes accross as a bit of an idiot and she's representing Sinn Fein/IRA. I can't understand why anyone would vote for her!!

Just to clarify -I was saying that she is good looking compared to other candidates. If you look at all the other posters I think she would have to be the best looking female candidate.

Have to agree with Colm in not being able to comprehend why people in the Republic vote for Sinn Fein. Having that said I like the idea of an Ireland of equals, but would certainly hate to see Sinn Fein's traditional methods of 'Equalising' put into practice in the Republic or anywhere else.

Surely zero chance of becoming leader of SF without at least serving his time in the IRA?
