The US has been running ads like this on tv for years.Isn't this sort of thing very similar to the ones the UK uses? UK defence foce

And what's wrong with being patriotic? Esp when recruiting for NATIONAL services? Am I missing something?
Or is everything to do with the US to be criticised en masse due to the fact that we don't like their president?

Patriotism is good. Jingoism is bad.

    Most americans are very jingoistic

Extreme nationalism characterized especially by a belligerent foreign policy; chauvinistic patriotism.

er george bush's policies summed up concisely dont you think.i would however support my country ie.if bertie attcked equatorial guinea i would support our troops but not the policies which i think is what most americans are like.
    j'accuse!

Nothing wrong with being proud of your country or your culture, but ye always have to respect other cultures. Patriotism is often taken too far, it makes people feel superior to other nationalities. Often people feel patriotic for the wrong reasons and express this patriotism in the wrong way, like wanting to fight for your country. (you should fight for your principles, never your country) US patriotism is usually accompanied by arrogance. Bush is just making it worse.

Practice what you preach my boy?.... You've recently been posting remarks about how ignorant and stupid Americans are and how you have no time for them. Hardly respectful?

In my experience, yes. Doesn't mean I respect them as people any less than I do an Irish person.

All races are evolved differently. Some races may be smarter or physically stronger than others. Some races may be considered 'better' or more evolved than others. Doesn't mean I don't respect everyone equally. [not that Americans are a race mind]

The sun? Aye, I should be so lucky. Nah, blonds are dying out anyway, I'd hate to be one of them.
