Jack Byrne's performances in the UEFA Youth League have led him to the cusp
of Manchester City's first team. The Manchester Evening News' Simon Bajkowski reports he's training with them and will be in contention to make the final squads of the season.
He moves freely and gracefully and has shown adeptness for finding space on
the pitch to receive the ball. He's never shy to take it under pressure and has
excelled playing as a flat central midfielder linking the lines.

The one downside is he's a bit of a hothead. He can get upset quickly and
found himself walking the disciplinary tightrope in the knockout stages. But he
scored six goals in eight starts throughout the competition—a very
    healthy return.

Some suggestion Vieira could take over until the end of the season if Pellegrini is sacked. He's a big fan of Byrne's. Interesting.

Correct on all counts. Though if Pellegrini gets the road it is likely that CL qualification won't be a given. That sort of position won't be conducive to a rookie manager giving a rookie player a shot... Or will it?

Big future for the kid either way, hopefully. Whether that kicks off this season or not. The reference to him being a hothead is interesting as it's reflected somewhat in that mini-documentary that City put together about him- but there's a positive angle to it in that he's a hothead because he's so passionate about his football. That's a more assuring way to look at it, especially given that he's a young player with all to prove at senior level.

Every good side needs a hot-head or two. Manchester City are probably lacking a bit in that department!

Big time. Plus, he's clearly a very gifted footballer from the clips I've seen. Ally that with a controlled temper...

Paul Scholes was a real hothead (fiery ginger inference not intended), not to mention gifted footballer. It probably contributed to a lot of his intensity and will-to-win. But, maybe also to his penchant for a poor tackle. That was a probably a small price to pay though.

I suppose Man City's recent poor results work in his favour, much easier to make it into a badly performing squad.

I wonder will Jack Byrne go out on loan next season? Seems to be a big Celtic fan, could go down the same route as Jason Denayer.

Yeah, translation states they've signed Valmir Berisha and Jack on loan. Doesn't give much other details. Berisha is a 19 year-old striker that plays with Roma.

Cambuur are in the top tier in the Netherlands. Chances are if he'd stayed in England he'd have moved to a League One side so I think this is a positive move that will hopefully improve him more technically.

"As was rumored, my info was correct: he is coming."

He is also in the process of signing a new long-term contract at Man City. He should arrive in Holland over the next few days. Fantastic news.
