    Mervue United (away) Monday 30th

While Longford Town VS Mervue United might not sound like the biggest of games this is massive for us as Limerick and Cork , 2 of the sides above us go head to head also on Monday night so a win here really is vital if we are to mix it up with the big boys for just another while longer.

We slipped up against the Galway lads last season and they are one of the most improved sides in the division this season with former Town player of the year Tom King amongst their ranks so we are in for a real battle here.

I think with confidence on our side we'l just scrap it 1-0 and hopefully a few other results might go our way too as I have a sneaky feeling Monaghan might just slip up against Harps.....

So all in all it could be a great or terrible night for the Town.

Sounds like Ozzie might miss this one thanks to that groin strain - http://www.extratime.ie/newsdesk/art...points-bagged/

Theres the starting line up from extratime.ie , looks like Gillespie is playing in the middle with Salmo, so unfortunately as we expected Hylo has to make way, good to see Craig Walsh starting and with Morley on the opposite flank we should get some great deliveries in for Ozzie and Donners.

But the one name thats missing is Cathal Brady, anyone know whats up with him?

Awful awful night for the Town as Shels picked up a 90th minute winner, Cork and Limerick both picked up a point to pull further away , the mons won again, and Athlone and obviously Mervue won so results have really gone against us, I was certain wed go on and win it after Salmo scored, it sounded like we should have been well ahead in 1st half but keeper made some good saved i hear and I just felt that would come back to bite us.

We were robbed it sounds like. Were denied a certain penalty just before they scored the winner. Having said that if you don't take your chances there's always the risk of a break away goal and it sounds like we got caught twice. Oh well, still a long way to go but we'll have to beat some of the teams above us if we're to keep in touch at the top end.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

I was gutted last nite. Cathal Brady had to pull out before the game.. Keith Gillespie yet again played a stormer 4 us. he was to blame though for their winner he was caught in possession outside the peno area and mervue broke away and tom king couldnt miss. Forde in Mervues goal saved well from a Gillespie header and a Lee Roche shot. Jacques Morely had to be taken off injured just before half time after a shocking tackle on him. At one stage it looked like he was goin to be stretchered off but luckily enough it didnt happen. in the second half Mervue had a strong spell just before they scored. Niall O 'Reilly was caught badly when mervue scored when he allowed the ball to pass over him. Mark Salmon took his goal brillinatly after Gillespie was the instigator in a fantastic one two. Lee Roche yet again missed a sitter.Sub Daniel Reilly easily hit the best cross of the night and all Roche had to do was concentrate but yet again he headed it badly wide. It was the turning point of the game. This was Craig Walshes first full game since the limerick game two months ago.

Real injury crisis on our hands now - Cathal Brady pulled out before the game with a hamstring injury, Ozzie failed a fitness test on his groin injury, jack Morley will be out for a number of weeks with an ankle injury, Don is still struggling with a groin injury, while Craig Walsh picked up a knock during the mervue game.

Cousins joked on extratime that he's wondering will he even have a team for Friday. One things for sure the Harps game just became a hell of a lot tougher.
