    UEFA’s 50th birthday

UEFA’s 50th birthday will be marked the Dublin City League Cup Quarter-final tomorrow night.

50 Jubilee balloons will be released at Flancare Park tomorrow night (Tuesday June 15th) to mark 50th anniversary of European Football Association

June 15th is the 50th anniversary of the founding of UEFA and as well as being celebrated at the Euro 2004 Group D fixtures between the Czech Republic and Latvia in Aveiro, and Germany and the Netherlands in Porto, UEFA has asked each member association to mark the historic day by releasing 50 specially-commissioned blue and gold jubilee balloons. A total of over 20,000 balloons will be released across Europe tomorrow. And as the Longford Town v Dublin City cup tie is the only domestic fixture taking place on the 15th, the balloons will be released at Flancare Park.

Attached to each balloon are cards, the finders of which should return to UEFA to claim Jubilee souvenirs and two lucky cards will entitle the finder to a pair of complimentary tickets for the 2005 Champions League Final.

plenty of kids there all right but because of the warm weather the balloons just dissappeared up into the evening sky, much to dissapointment of the nippers attending.
the 3 kids that released the balloons mysteriously each had a balloon that got stuck on their hand as they released the groups of balloons which they had to keep.
