....since our 1st cup final. It was a terrible match on a terrible day with a very disappointing result, but a memorable match for me as I genuinely didnt expect to see the Town at another cup final. I've tried to put a few "highlights" together from a video of the match, though finding anything notworthy was a job in itself.

Broke my heart that day...
Sporting F*ck All!
Remember that day well, started off a lovely day but went downhill rapidly in all ways. Still, a good night was had when the team got back to Longford. The infamous Stuey Byrne Specials were flying that day and night.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Can't believe its 10 years!! That day was bad from the time I got up.....was out the previous night in Blazers as a young lad drinking cocktails up in Rara to bate the band...not worried about a hangover cos never heard of the word before!! Sure enough next morning as sick as a dog and had to get the train to Dublin. Was so bad I even considered giving it a miss but I had to be there since followed De Town from the dark days in Abbeycartron!! Sat outside the Cat n Cage in bits but made a promise no drink for the forseeable future. By time we got back to Longford I had to drown my sorrows and went back to the pub.....lesson certainly not and still not learned!!!
Great day and night, ruined by the match. Quite possibly the Golden Age of Town support - general goodwill towards the club in Longford and the league, pretty united support, no worries about money (although there probably should've been), a great song book, Turtle Travel, buckfast. Ah, nostalgia is not what it used to be...
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
Does anyone have the teamsheet from it? Please!

its the least memorable of all the cup finals.. we were in behind the goal and couldnt get any proper chants goin as the annoyin longford arms samba band plus the hangers on from the gaa were there.. it was the only cup final I went to by train! the years have flown by fast!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Yeah, that feckin samba band... At least we kinda sorted out that whole issue of the singers being split up for the later finals. I don't think there was a train option for the other finals, was there? I remember getting the train back, no recollection of getting it to the game (I think I just got it home, but soberiety wasn't my strong point that season )

I've watched this back several times in the last few years for various work-related reasons. Couldn't believe how much of the game I'd forgotten. I gave Macker a DVD of this a couple of years ago and he gave me his Cup Final tracksuit top and tie. I seldom waer them together

Stuck some highlights from the 2003 victory against St Pats on youtube. Hopefully I'll get 2007 v Cork done as well. Unfortunately I didn't get a video of the Waterford cup final http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlC9Q...TshDV6BYF-HwCQ
