Just baffles me how this continues to happen. No matter what manager we seem to have its the same story for us. In recent times Scully, Kerely, McGee, O Connor and its the same thing year after year.

I'll be honest it would be very hard to take if we made it to 3rd and lost in a playoff. We need to finish second I think or we can forget about promotion. I don't care how bad the bottom premier team are.

    Thats the glass half empty.

Now for the glass half full.

We where supposedly the better team for the whole game and it was a shock Mons got anything which means we have nothing to fear from them I wouldn't think. They managed to beat Waterford and Shels. We didn't look out of place against Shels, beat a poor performing Waterford team in the cup, beat Longford and only narrowly lost to Cork with a weak Limerick team. We are only 4 points of top of the league (Shels with a game in hand) and a win against Waterford could keep it at that. After the first series of games a 4 point gap between 1st and 5th isn't too bad. At least all the other teams have dropped points too and nobody has ran away with it and strung a rake of wins together in a row.

Just home from Mons and wrecked so proper report tomorrow for now ill just say thanks very much Shane Tracy for making sure our hopes didnt get too high by completely ruining a great performance from the rest of your team mates.

Also does anybody know how to switch Sean O COnnnor on i mean make him move any bit at all even an inch or 2.

Looking at the games against the teams that are considered our rivals for promotion,we were poor away against Cork and lost, worthy of a draw away to Shelbourne, beat Longford at home and last night we took a point away to Monaghan and by reports from the game we could have had 3.

Maybe its the years of continous failure and foul ups that has given us
plenty of reasons to always expect the worst but i believe this year we have a team and manager that are on the same level as the top teams in our division and considering that three of the teams currently above us in the league all have to come to Limerick we have to believe that the glass is half full or else we may as well stay at home for the rest of the season.

Chin up, believe and it just might happen.
I dont see whats good about this? We would be in a better position if we added the 3 points from Wexford ok but we cant we lost so thats that gone.

And we should be happy cos we outplayed Shels and Monaghan and still only managed 2 points from them games when it should have been 6? IF it was Shels or Mons on top of us like we were to both of them you can guarantee we would have got nothing from them. Thats what happens when ya have the bottle to put teams away.

We dominated Mos last night should have been 5 up at half time then when that didnt happen should have been 3 up 10 mins into 2nd half...Any other team in the league in that posititon would try to finish Mons off we on the other hand decide to drop right back into our own half for the last 25 mins....Just let Mons stroll back into a game that they were doing nothiong in....OUr players ignoring Scully screaming at tthem to push out over and over again.

Shane Tracy then pushes in to the middle and lets there right back freely run up and down the line. For their goal Shane stood there looking at him go up the line but instead of closing him down he stood there pointing at him right abck then gets fouled that free goes for corner and we all know the rest.

Monaghan were missing 3 key players last night. We played them off the park created a hatful of chances and still failed to win.

    Totally gutted.

Last night only highlighted one thing for me, poor substitutions and a weak bench. Mons (who didnt have a shot all night) only attacking option was their right back who was playing as a winger in the second half. we went from a 4 3 1 2 to a 7 1 1 1 for the last 5 mins and invited them onto us and no need to do it. Calla was brought on with ten to go in midfield (Broghall and White being the other two defenders to be used in that position so far this season in the first nine games)Paudie and Hynes were withdrawn making us go from a dominating attacking team to an over defencive team. The goal was scored in the 94th min after three mins had been added on but what a sucker it was. The ball hit an unmarked center half on his crown, and looped into the net as we had no defender on the post "get off the post get off the post" guess who

Sat back the last 5 min? Try the last 20 min we were scared to go forward.

In fairness im not sure about that no-one on the back post there was 22 players in the box and when the ball went in there was at least 5 Limerick players across the line. If one of them wasnt on the post its ridiculous i didnt look to see were they onthe post so dont know. Few times in 1st half alright we had someone on the front post and no-one on the back dont know what that was all about.

Its one thing having Broughall or White in midfield they can do a small bit of a job in there not very good but not awful but Calla should never ever ever be in a midfield for any team not even Junior 4a let alone League of Ireland he was a disgrace in there. I still blame Shane Tracy for the goal he watched the right back stroll forward and stood pointing at him when he was marking no-one.

Think you said it o me Geal agfter 5 mins of 2nd half that Shane was letting the right back go and it was going to cost us now how can me and you spot that 5 mins into th ehalf yet our coaching staff eithe rdont see it or dont do anything about it?

Serious frustration after that, to hold onto a lead for 92 minutes and still come away with one point! If things keep going in this vein we'll end up a Monaghan-Limerick-Longford-Waterford glut contending for the play-offs come seasons end, with Shels and Cork comfortably in the promotion spots . . . if they continue like this.

All the same, it's a very competitive division, and all we need is Stevo to get on one of his scoring runs and the team to come together a little more and start closing games out (easier said than done). We have a great team, but we're far too raw and give up winning positions.

For what its worth, I still reckon we'll be around 2nd / 3rd for a finish, especially if we're in amongst them when Sheahan comes back.

    Why am I not surprised?

With the Junior season coming to an end I would love to see Tierney and Colbert sign back for Limerick. Could do with Colbert in the middle of the park for a bit of bite and if Tierney came back I'd like to see him on the wing. Tierney might be unlikely but Colbert would be excellent.

lads, i dont see what all the fuss is about , and agree with the previous poster , Monaghon and Shels away could turn out to be two good draws , I think that if you beat the weaker teams especially at home and most of them away , then you will be there or there abouts, thats why i think shels will win the league , they have went to salthill mervue and athlone and took maximum points , whereas they lost to Monaghon but that does not really matter because Monaghon and lost points to those weaker teams , the biggest disappointment imo is losing at home to wexford , I remember wathing games in Noel O' Connor and Ski and Kerleys time and that was still the big problem , dropping points against weaker opposition , Players will get themselves up for games against the Likes of Dundalk and Shels (Kerley and Skis teams got a lot of good results against them and even when Rovers were in the division I remember Limerick beating them in Hogan park(could have been the cup )Not beating the ' stronger teams seems to be only happening in the last couple of seasons ' but as long as they can beat the weaker teams and get even draws against cork, shels waterford and Mons then Limerick should get a playoff position although I personally think it will be shels Cork and Waterford

They could if our team had the bottle to perform at home against the top teams in the league. Once the crowd creeps towards the thousand mark they never turn up.

Its the hope that kills me!
