Only one shot on target, but was worth waiting for.

Could have been 3/4-0 down in 20 mins. All over the place, giving the ball away continously, unconvincing clearances, general carnage at the back.

After that, we got a foothold in the game, though technically they were a class above Copenhagen. Thought Twigg had won it at the end, somehow the ball stayed out.

Going to be hard, hot, and hostile out there. The early part of the game could be rough, I think Partizan will look to wrap it up early. If we can come through it, we can give it a go, and then who knows how it'll end up.

Cork City will still be able to compete in Europe though. New club and all that.

    It wasn't examinership.

We have been told by the F.A.I. that if we finish in a European position the F.A.I. will nominate us to represent the L.O.I.

On a side note, Wellvan's creditors/administrator have recieved almost £350,000 since from the ammon sell-on and now the Mc Clean transfer as it was Wellvan who he was contracted to and he is still under 23 so they have to get the money.

I'm seriously awaiting the usual forumers who will no doubt complain if we do qualify! Baaaaaaaa
So if you think Bohs are big read this. http://www.astronomy.ie/perpespective.html

Surely, that's different from UEFA granting the club a licence to participate though?

Mypost, it didnt look like they would score up until then they did nothing, no incisivness at all. Glad to be wrong that they created 2 chances and took 1.

2-0 or possibly 3-1 away from home though I'm sorry to say. Partizan when needed bar the last 15 looked very comfortable and were more than happy to go home 0-1, and dealt with anything rovers could throw at them more than comfortably.

What I find funny, especially after listening to Michael o'neill continually drive home they don't like getting at them in our style, meaning high balls in to the box, target man, british style football. Thats all well and good but Irish sides are generally dwarves, especially against these Eastern European teams who are generally 6 foot plus guys, with great aerial strenght and technically very good.

The games i have watched of rovers, Mccormack is probably the only one who has cut the mustard against superior opposition. A very tidy player and perhaps greater things on the horizon for him.

When all is said and done, no matter how partizan played, a 1-1 draw is good for the co-efficients, and a great result against a team of the calibre and resources of Partizan. Congratulations to all at Shamrock Rovers.

Not really, the licenses are issued by FAI on behalf of UEFA

This is typical of Gilhooly. he really doesn't have the knowledge to speaking on these matters

He didn’t even think to see if Derry were in the same jurisdiction?

Great atmosphere in the stadium last night - brought my brother to his first football match featuring an LoI side (hope I don't make him a Shams fan).

MON's tactics in the first half were way off the mark - 4-5-1 that sat way too deep and they were duly punished.

Ryan Thompson seems like a dangerous fool and he probably should be replaced.

Roof lifted when McCabe scored - great goal - he actually played a stormer.

Partizan were a class act. I can't see Shams going through.

Great second half performance from Rovers and while it was a fantastic result you have to think they needed at least one of those two Twigg chances to go in if not both because if the Hoops fans think Tallaght was hostile last night wait till they get over to Serbia they sh1t a brick.

I had a match myself so had the game recorded. I had heard they were losing 1-0 despite my best efforts to avoid the scoreline so I wasn't optimistic when I sat down to watch. The first 20 minutes they seemed to just freeze, the idea was presumably not to waste energy the way they did against Copenhagen but they were so static it was shocking, the failure to track runs left them very lucky not to be 3-0 down by the time they got moving.

Once they recovered from the shell shock it was another really good performance, they were never really expected to get anything out of the game so to fight back so well and to be realistically thinking they could have won it was a tremendous achievement. You can see the inferiority complex slowly leaving the Rovers players the more they play in Eurpoe and there really is a feeling that if they keep winning the league, they'll make that step to the group stages in the next few years. I doubt it'll be this year, Partizan showed enough to suggest they'll be comfortable enough at home, but it's an excellent achievement to have just kept the tie alive.

The goal was something special and it's great to see a goal like that from a League of Ireland side, we all expect the set piece goals and battling spirit but the skill and subtle touches might have opened a few eyes to the ability that's on display in the league every week.

Is the current Derry City not officially a different club to the club that entered examinership? As is the case with Cork, hence the whole Foras Co-op shtuff. That was my understanding at the time.

Anyway, good game last night Rovers unlucky not to score late on but were lucky to only be one down. Fair result.

Decent result and good for the coefficient.

Rovers need to score out there, fair enough. But I much prefer playing the away leg second. Reason been that even if Rovers concede one early the next time, their target remains the same - they will need to score one goal. Ok now one goal would be to tie the game rather than win. But the thing is Rovers score, it cancels Partizans away goal and well away goals from then on can only work in one favour.

Thought it was a tremendous result and, as someone else said, when we so often describe Irish performances in Europe as 'gutsy' 'hard-fought' and 'battling' it was nice to add 'skilful' and 'top class' to the descriptions of the goal. To score in the manner they did against a team like PB is something truly remarkable. When Derry and Pats got to the same stage of the competition, they didn't manage to get a goal, so real congrats in order to Rovers today .

We scored against Steaua in the play offs in 2009. Put us 1-0 up in the 2nd leg (lost 1-2)

I'm sure you've been watching football long enough, to know that it only takes one chance to score a goal, not 20. Glad you were wrong again about us in Europe though. Hope you will be again next week.

When you keep the score down, a goal can make a lot of difference. Rovers haven't conceded three yet in the last nine games in Europe..

So no 0-2 deficit after 5 minutes, keepers missing the ball in Ukraine, og's, 4-0 to FC Haka or TNS or Carmarthen..

And you haven't scored twice in those same 9 games, winning only one of them.

Wouldn't have mentioned it if you hadn't have had a pop with the next sentence

I was wondering who'd be first

Yet every goal that has been scored has counted for a draw or winner...which is more difficult when 3-0 down..
