Some good approach work, but the final ball was almost always missing. A feature of the game was their astonishing ability to keep giving the ball away from their persistent tactic of taking short corners. At one point, seeing the possibility of another short corner, the crowd reacted in horror, and as a result, it seemed to me, the ball was launched directly into the box.
I think Rovers will probably score in the return, so hope and expect them to get through.
On two or three occasions they had Oman and Sives up from the back for corners and yet the played them short. That was pointless. I don't know Estonian football but I know Ukrainian football and they are terrified of direct corners. Oman and Sives are a real threat and besides they're not that mobile at the best of times so wasting their efforts in that way is unforgivable.

Rovers' main weakness was in playing O'Donnell in the holding mid and leaving Twigg effectively on his own up front. Flora were there for a 4 or 5 goal hiding: you could see they were outclassed on most one-on- one situations.

If Rovers don't beat Tallinn next week then you'd have to ask serious questions...
who is that your referring to.

God knows what questions they raise. That the manager every Sligo and Bohs fan considers to be terrible mightn't be great in Europe? That would be despite his winning last year in Europe, and the incredible failure of an apparently highly rated manager in Europe last year in similar circumstances.

What he means is that he thinks we'll knock out Flora, so if we do its not a very good achievement and he can dismiss it, but if we don't, despite Irish sides poor European performances, its a sign that we're some sort of crisis club and he'll take gleeful delight in it, having tried to write off Flora before hand.

Do Dundalk send best wishes to all clubs on the island competing in Europe generally or just Linfield?

Is there a deadline for when the clubs have to decide if they will swap home and away legs? Would like to book everything ASAP on Friday

On the face of it that is a very poor record. But then the European records of most LoI clubs would make for poor reading too.

I have no doubt that Reiteoir can speak for himself, but perhaps the point is that if Rovers get knocked out next week many (especially Hoops fans) will question Rovers' inability to press home an obvious advantage last night.

    Like...

How Flora'll get on in the next round?
What's the travelling cost from Tallinn to their next opponents?
At what time will Rovers land back in Dublin?
What time is the last ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki?
Where's the nearest taxi rank from Le Coq Arena to the old town?
    The Model Club

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.

Apparently there is no longer a facilty for clubs to swap home and way legs. UEFA, with input from the national associations, make the decisions.

Last season Dundalk were drawn to play at home in the first leg against Grevenmacher. Because both Luxembourg teams were due to be at home at the same time, our fixtures got reversed.

At the time it was stated by UEFA that any reversals would be confirmed by them on their website within hours of the draw. Fans were warned repeatedly on the Dundalk website not to make any travel bookings until reconfirmation occured. Good advise as it turned out!

Rovers home European game almost sold out, between 200/300 tickets* on general sale tomorrow afternoon, with a lot of season ticket holders yet to purchase theirs.

*More may become available nearer the time depending on how much interest from away fans and UEFA's allocation.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Half-time in the Linfield game now. Some other results from this evening:

    Zestafoni 3-0 Dacia Chişinău
Maccabi Haifa 5-1 Borac Banja Luka
    Malmö FF 2-0 HB Tórshavn
    Bangor City 0-3 HJK Helsinki

Quite a few other qualifiers have still to finish. Out of the above games, only the winners of the Maccabi-Borac game can be drawn against Shamrock Rovers in the next round, assuming Rovers don't mess things up in Talinn. Looks pretty certain that Maccabi will be in the draw though. Dinamo Zagreb (winning 3-0 at home to FK Neftchi with about ten minutes of the first leg left) and APOEL Nicosia (winning their first leg against Skënderbeu 2-0 away also with ten minutes left) are both looking pretty comfortable to make it through as well.

I think any hope of that has been extinguished with BATE's away goal. Very hard to see Linfield scoring out there.
