Wonderful performance. Can't say though that they were unlucky to lose.

they could have been lucky though and got an away goal.

fair point PI - i think its well established at this stage that you love a bit of hoop action. And thats fair enough...

Fair play to Rovers - keeps the tie alive - thought they were very good throughout. Might regret not taking a chance!

Still feel copenhagen were not up to much for all the hype.

Unlucky not to get a goal from a good corner by Dennehy, shame not to hit the target. Later so unlucky not to get the away goal with Finn's effort. Great save by the Rovers keeper before that. Dennehy created another good chance for Twigg, very unlucky not to equalise then as well.

Not a bad result but disappointing to lose. Not getting that crucial away goal could be the difference next. Hat's off to Rovers though, they've represented Ireland well. It's just a pity the majority of those who've an interest in association football will be oblivious to this good display tonight.

    A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.

While they'll initially be happy with the result I think they'll be gutted not to have nicked an away goal when they look back at it.

I think you might be confusing rustiness/pre-season. They just looked fairly tired and drained in the second half. Which has to give rovers confidence in the home game.

Rovers never looked like capable of creating a clear cut chance from nothing like they did

Fair play to Rovers, they didn't seem overawed and had chances of their own. Nor should they have been overawed either, they've faced a tougher prospect in Juventus last year and played well.
An away goal would have been great, makes the second leg harder, still though, they're still well in the tie after the first leg, and that's all anyone wishing them well would have hooped for.
Early goal next week should make for great sport.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!

At 7 I would have been delighted with this as a FT result.

I'm actually gutted now. Rovers were the better team in the second half. I hope they don't rue the missed chances.

Rovers had three very good chances in the second half- Oman header, Finn shot, and Twigg header. Really good, well organized, gutsy display.

Yup fair balls to them. Pity that bollock$ Diuof didn't get sent off. Clearly a racially motivated attack.
