Spurs are gone. Serves them right for treating the competition as a joke. Puts our results against Kazan and Salonika in perspective.
Spurs are now out of the Europa League after losing 1-2 at home to POAK. Maybe Rovers can finish on a high now that Spurs will have nothing to play for in a fortnight ?
edit - got a bit ahead of myself - Spurs are not out. but need unlikely set of results

would be great to finish our european odyssey on a high, especially by beating or holding an english side
I think Spurs will be happy to focus on their UK's Southern League push.

A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.

You have extra lemons with your brekkie? the shels team of old werent good enough to qualify for group stage football and its somewhere your p**spot club will never see. Rovers have competed well over the euro campaign given the vast difference it resources with other clubs. i think its fair to say every fan of other clubs would glady take the experience we've had this year.
Your talking rubbish mate ( Im Not a Rovers Fan ), they have over achieved yes and they have done the league proud on the resources they have had. Shels wouldnt have done anything either even with the resources they had years ago of trying to buy the league and over inflation of wages they paid and couldnt afford

Where exactly did you get this piece of ******ology? A casual glance at the tables will tell you we are not the only team to have no points and over the years there have been numerous teams who finished pointless. It's a great experience just being here, despite getting beaten 4-1 last night it, being in the middle of Russia in December watching Rovers playing competitive european football was one of my best ever footballing experiences. I'd love to be "making a show" of the league like this every year.

Wow - Shamrock Rovers have done the league proud this year. They were also terribly unlucky to get a very tough group in the Europa as well - or do u now expect LOI teams to beat English, Russian and Greek opposition!!!!!! This is a learning curve for the LOI and with their experience from this year I fully expect Rovers to do well in the CL next season.
And as one of the thousands that were in the Shams end in White hart lane, the supporters showed that the LOI alos have great passionate fans
Hopefully next year we can upgrade to making a holy show of the league. And then who knows?
Rovers are doing about as well as you could expect the lowest ranked team in the competition with by far the smallest budget to do. We were unlucky enough to draw 3 teams ranked above Partizan, and the fact the top-ranked side in the entire competition are about to be eliminated from the competition goes to show the quality our players have had to face.
Well done to Celtic, whose internationals are performing above their seeding, but for Rovers it's been a very tough learning process.

Maybe they could start by beating Hibernians, Steaua Bucharest, or even the now relegated Deportivo La Coruna.Originally Posted by TiocfaidhArmani

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.
AEK Athens' record this year is a mere two goals better than Rovers' (with an easier group too). This is only the third year of the Europa League, so it's not surprising that there haven't been too many nul point campaigns yet. However, in the last UEFA Cup (which was different in that it had five-team groups), Heerenveen and Partizan both got no points, with Heerenveen's record worse than Rovers' after four games (which was all Heerenveen played). Give the format as long as the CL has been around, and other other low-scoring campaigns will happen. In the CL, for example, we have Maccabi Haifa in 2009/10 (not only no points, but no goals as well), Debrecen the same year (no points, -14 GD), or last year's pairing of Zilina (0 points, GD -16) and Partizan again (no points for the second time in three years) will arise. It's just the law of averages. Rovers were not only a new team to the group stages, but a new country - and in arguably the toughest group at that - and your assertion that they've embarrassed the league is nonsense.
