It's ridiculous. Kills the point of a league table if the last place team doesn't get relegated(disregarding licenses or teams being demoted etc). Might explain the lack of effort at times from the likes of Galway and Drogheda down at the bottom of the premier.

I think lack of effort is a bit unfair, the players are hardly going out to lose games. Lack of ability might be more appropriate

I don't mean to be harsh about it but if you're not going to get relegated automatically by coming last you'll be more relaxed compared to the opposite situation.

A play-off though this year could be as bad as automatic relegation. I wouldn't fancy playing Shels/Cork/Mons/Limerick in a play-off. I know it gives ya an extra chance to stay up, but everything should be geared towards avoiding finishing last.

That's pretty much the end of Galway's chances. They were slim when it was one game in Terryland, but over two legs it would take a miracle altogether.

They said that about Salthill last year though. Its a pity that Drogheda or UCD won't get a chance to get relegated.

Feck sake, I think we would have had a better chance in a one off game coz the lads will be tired enough by then.

take it easy on them then, MM!!
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I know you've had a stressfull season but that comment is a tad strange. You have a chance (albeit a very slim one) of winning a play-off rather than being demoted automatically. Also, draw Cork or Limerick in particular and you would have c.750 travelling fans alone at Terryland and a bumper home crowd with big gate receipts. I know it has been a tough old season but try not to be to fatalistic regarding a possible play-off match. Wait for that rotund female to sing a tune until you throw the towel in.

Why? Both sides rebuilding and improving in recent weeks. Why stunt that?

Plenty of room for one or both of us to go down next season.

    That's us relegated now.

It'll also lower the crowd for the home leg. Less people will turn up after we've lost the away leg.

youll get more away fans though.

If we were in a two legged play off and we had a lead after the home tie you could bank on anywhere from 500-1000 fans traveling to Galway

I hope Monaghan don't finish third!
