Deserved 2-1 win for the A team. Played well considering everything. Few players to return and should get stronger as the season goes on

Well done to the ladies who won 2-1 last night in Ballina in the Mayo Cup semi Final. Or maybe they were lucky.

Also to the 3 U12 teams who all got (lucky?) wins tonight. Well done lads and lassies!

    Westport A 7-0 Celtic B U18.

Some very good players on the Westport side. Celtic missing quite a few and only had 12 with them. Westport look strong after this lucky win

AH I wouldn't call a 7-0 win lucky in fairness. Unless they were 7 lucky goals maybe. Unlikely though.

The Castlebar Celtic B team got their first league win of the season after deservedly taking all three points against a good Iorras Ath side in Celtic Park on Friday evening. This victory was based on the superb defence of Ultan Reilly, Killian Loftus, Eoghan McHale and the impressive center half pairing of Jason High and Robert Stakelum. The Hoops outstanding midfield quartet of Kevin Moran, Eoin Barrett, Ben Ebdel and Finn Sammon had to work hard for every ball but played some wonderful football throughout the hour. The Celtic front two of Sean Kelly Fair and Conor Quinn were a handful for the over worked Iorras defence with their intelligent runs and link up play. Both teams had chances in the first half which they failed to convert, but in general both defences held the upper hand and the score stood at 0-0 at half time. The second half saw the introduction of Ryan Baynes, Jason Maughan and Darragh Moran and they all made a telling contribution in this great victory. The Hoops took the lead following a great finish by Kevin Moran who had a great game and the impressive Ultan Reilly made it 2-0 after coming out of goals five minutes later. With the visitors throwing everything at the home defence who stood firm the superb Eoin Barrett wrapped up all three points when he coolly slotted the ball past the helpless Iorras keeper. In fairness to the visitors they did pull a goal back with the last action of the game.

The clubs U12C team claimed their first league victory of the season after a brilliant game against a very unlucky Glenhest Rovers side. The young Hoops had to battle hard for this win against a bigger home side. It was Rovers who started the brighter but were finding it difficult to penetrate the excellent Celtic defence of goalkeeper Joe Tuohy who was superb throughout, Gary Naughton, Dylan Tighe, Captain Modestus Derencius and excellent Paul Walsh who put in some great last ditch tackles. It was the home side who broke the deadlock after 20 minutes from a long range effort which looped over the keeper and this was the only score of the first half. Karol Szopa was introduced for the second half for the injured Gary Naughton and he made a telling contribution to this win. The Celtic midfield of James Robinson, Alex Behan, Donnacha McHugh and Jamie McArdle became to gain a foothold in midfield and they began to push the home side back. The excellent front two of Dylan McGarry and James McDyer were causing the home defence a lot of problem with their movement. Celtic deservedly levelled the game after 40 minutes following good work from Donnacha McHugh who was taken down at the edge of the area. A superbly delivered free kick from James McDyer was turned in at the back post by Dylan McGarry. The Hoops took the lead 5 minutes later after James Robinson made a great break down the right and he saw he goal bound effort saved by the alert Rovers keeper and Alex Behan then saw his shot blocked on the line but Jamie McArdle was on hand to finish to the net. Celtic had to withstand tremendous pressure from Glenhest in the remaining 10 minutes but held firm for this excellent victory.

Celtic girl’s U-12 team continued their winning ways following a comprehensive derby victory over a hard working Castlebar Town team at Celtic Park last Tuesday evening. It was the home team that dominated the early exchanges thanks to the influential defence of goalkeeper Allanha Courell, Anna O’Donovan, Abbey Waldron and the outstanding Rachel Baynes. With the superb Aoife and Grainne O’Neill controlling the midfield sector and they were always in support of the excellent Rachel Lammond but Celtic were be held at bay by some staunch Town defending. It was the Hoops who opened the scoring after 5 minutes following an excellent move involving Abbey Waldron and Anna O’Donovan and was coolly finished off by Rachel Lammond. Both Grainne and Aoife O’Neill got on the score sheet as did Rachel Baynes who strolled up from the back to rifle a shot to the roof of the Town net. In fairness Town never stopped trying and pulled a goal back midway through the half, but was the Hoops who kicked on from here and they added further goals from Rachel Lammond, Aoife & Grainne O’Neill and Rachel Baynes. Celtic introduced Jean Benson who got the goal her played deserved, Lisa Joyce, Lucy Touhy, Lucy Ryan, Holly Berkeley, Ella Moran, Sinead Coll, Hennessy, Katie, Chloe Courell, Reidy, Sarah and Katie O’Donovan who along with Sister Anna became the first triplets to play for Castlebar Celtic and they all played their part in this great win. Further goals form the O’Neill sisters and Rachel Baynes had all three points wrapped up. Town did add three goals of their own near the end which their play deserved. WIP

What a terrific start our under 12 girls have made. Fair play to them.

How does it work? 7 a side, rolling unlimited subs?

Good win for the 16s in Partry last night too. 5-1 to get their first 3 points on the board. 14s play Achill at home tomorrow

That's the best way forward. To be honest I wish they'd introduce it to the boys game. From a player dev point of view, small sided games are the way to go

Great 3-2 win for the U-14 last night against a very good Westport side. Celtic missing 4/5 players who are on holidays no doubt Utd in a similar position

Great win for the Community games side. Beat Carrick-on-Shannon 5-1 in semi and Roscommon Town 2-0 in the Final. Sixth title in a row. Well done to Greg Whyte and Michael Ludden and all the lads. Good wins for U-12 B & C teams last night. Bees beat Ballina Town 7-0 and C had a good 4-0 win over Manulla C.

The clubs U-16 side continued their winning ways following an impressive 6-1 victory against a hard working Iorras side in Celtic Park on Monday evening. Iorras must be sick of the sight of Celtic as their U-17 were hit for 8 the day before in the Mayo Cup final. The management team of John Ralph, Ioseph O’Reilly, Ronan & Ger O’Boyle made a number of positional changes from last week with top class Philip Ruddy moving into the centre of midfield along with the impressive Noe Baba. The superb Gary Walsh was a revelation playing in an unfamiliar striking role with the excellent Jason Hunt who bagged a hat-trick. The home defence of Adam Chambers, Conor Ludden, Mark Howley, Mathew Ruane and Sean Conlon were always in control and never gave the visitors and sniff at goals. The midfield quartet of Dylan Ralph, Colm Quinn and the fore mentioned Noe Baba and Philip Ruddy dominated their Iorras counterparts and were always in support of the excellent striking duo. The Hoops were three goals to the good at half time thanks to strikes from Jason Hunt, Philip Ruddy and Gary Walsh. The second half saw the introduction of Stephen McDermott, Darragh Coll and Darren Murray and they all played their part in this league victory. Jason Hunt completed his hat-trick by full time and Darren Murray chipped with the wonderful goal. Iorras did get a goal back following a well taken free kick.
