Keane, now 32, was PNE's top scorer in 2023/24, with 13 goals. In 2024/25 he made only 13 starts and 14 sub appearances, scoring 3 times, to bring his total PNE stats to 19 goals in 93 appearances (all competitions). Wigan Today and the 'Lancashire Post' (11 June) have dismissed speculation linking him with a return to Wigan and a reunion with Ryan Lowe.

Can't see him being called up again. Probably 10 ahead of him now in that position.

First goal in nine months today. Not quite sure there's 10 ahead of him up front - but equally at best he'd be a mediocre option along the ranks of Cannon, Armstrong, Emakhu, Robinson and even Idah at this stage.

Won't fault him for declaring and giving it a go, but he was a mediocre option the best day ever he was.
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

After only two sub appearances (one goal) for Preston this season, it looks like Keane is leaving for Reading and his former manager Leam Richardson.

He was more or less out of the picture anyway, but a switch down to League 1 will be the final nail in his international career most likely.

Context. He missed the previous 28 games with injury.

He played 97 minutes for Ireland. How many of our current lot produced their "best day ever" in their first 97 minutes?
