Either Reid is a better option than a few we have in our squad but Trap simply won't pick them cos he's too stubborn.
Agreed, Andy's definitely the best option for post-match entertainment.

All will depend on what situation we are in after even this qualifying campaign. We really need to qualify. It will be ten years since we qualified for our last finals and 24 since our last euros. Was thinking the other day that my 10 yo brother was 1 when we qualified for wc2002. I even remember waking him up from a sleep in his cot shouting after Keane scored against Portugal. There is a generation of kids who have no idea what its like to ne involved in an international tournament and its this that is important. If trap gets us to Poland-Ukraine then I'll be more than happy for tardelli to succeed him.
I do think though Brady managing and Tardelli as an assistant would be a good next step.

Yes, unfortunately there was a lot wrong with your sentence. One Reid Trap originally would have wanted to build a team around, but he's made of biscuits and is permanently broken and y'know, retired from international football. The other Reid is a whale, who played for us for years and did largely nothing, left Sunderland so desperate to get rid of him they sent him on loan to the Championship, and is now a bench warmer for Blackpool where he waddles on to the pitch for 15 minutes as his team get swamped in midfield, losing heavily, but has one shot on goal that goes narrowly wide. Anyway, this has all been done to death in other threads.

While I have huge admiration for Chris Hughton and believe he is a fantastic coach, his managerial career is too short to be considered for an International Managers job. I wouldn't mind seeing him and Tardelli work together but I reckon Brady will come back into the fold as Tardelli's number 2 should Trap walk away or get the heave ho!!!

Tardelli's only success as a coach came at Italian U21 level where he won the European Championships. Any senior coaching job he has had has been disastrous as far as I can tell. He lasted 6 months in the job as manager of Egypt, drawing with Benin and losing to Libya in competitive games. In context, that would be like Ireland losing to Cuba and drawing with Thailand (OK, based on world rankings at the time, but still :P). He won promotion with some serie C team, but that seems to be about the level of achievement he has shown as a manager. I'd like to see a manager who could at least hold down a previous job for more than a year in charge next time around.

Interestingly, as manager of Egypt, he was paid $40,000 a month (around €340k per anum) with a $100k bonus for qualifying for the World Cup (which he didn't do). That might give some indication as to the level of wages he might expect. Certainly a lot more manageable than Trap.

Jeez, 40k a month? I'd do it for half that!

Tardelli = Stan the sequel. Equally difficult to decipher in tv interviews too.

I'd like Tardelli to succeed trap, continuity at international level would be a great thing.

All due respect to Alf Honn who shows up once in a blue moon... I think he has worked hard on this issue. And most important, he knows our players (Probably painstakingly.)
Now, go away and make a call on who should manage the 14 team or have some balls and comment when you should.

I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Beyond the first few names it's just an honour roll of failure.

    Venables? Rioch?

There's holes in the barrel after them.

Seriously in all fairness, when will the suggestions of Venables as potential Irish Manager die? When? Even if suggested jokingly its still not funny. He's such a cretin.

Hughton, O'Neill, Lippi, Ranieri, Beenhakker or Rijkaard would all be welcome additions to the glorious pantheon of Irish coaching.

Think Venables was doomed the moment Dunphy turned on him.

Sure he does. He thinks John O'Shea is 26 according to the Sunday Times.

Indeed. I'm still getting over the last one. From memory, over 130 pages of speculation.
