    Our season so far...

A good point in Tolka Park on Friday suggests we can mix it with the top teams this season.

I was worried after the Cork game but looking back on that game we missing several key influential players that could have made a difference that day. Our captain Paddy Purcell was out along with Tracy and two goalscorers Stevo and Sheahan. I'm not making excuses as it should be about the whole squad if we are going to go up but to lose that amount of key players made a difference.

We have improved since then and the lads should great character to come back against Shelbourne. Good wins against Salthill, Longford and Kerry in the cup have been promising.

With the next few games "winable" we can push on for the rest of the season. Hynes, Judge and Purcell have been impressive for me and with O' Flynn coming back we should start scoring more along with the strong defence we have had so far.

What are your views on the season so far?

Same as yourself was worried after the Cork game but things have really improved since then.

Corey Tracy has made us far more solid then when we had Broughall at right back and John Frost seems to get better every game. Paddy is in the best shape i have ever seen him and Judge is a very good player. I think Hynes is our best player so far.

Steves record speaks for itself he has 27 goals in his last 33 games for us. You could see Shels get nervous when he came on Friday so it will be huge to have him back.

As i said somewhere else we have a 100% home record and have lost only one of the three toughest away gemes imo which is a good start. If we play like we can and how we did for bits against Shels then we will win the next 3 and that will set us up nicely for games against Monaghan and Waterford.

Has to be remembered we have a lot of new players that have to settle in Frost,McCarthy,Tracy,Breen,Quinn and Hynes were new that started against Shels. Also have a very good player in Sean O Connor that is still getting up to match fitness after having no pre-season.

Win 2 of the next 3 winnable games (Mervue away tricky) and beat one of Monaghan or Waterford and id be happy with the first series of games.....Saying that i do think that if we play the way we can we could have a good chance of winning 4 of that 5 if not all 5.

Edit: Still have Gary Sheehan to come back too if we are up around by june.

Another good thing going for us is who the other teams have to play yet. We have had a tougher start than most I'd say and we are still in around the top.

In the first series of games:

Shels still have to play Waterford, Monaghan, Finn Harps and Cork.

Waterford have: Shels, Limerick, Cork, Finn Harps.

    Monaghan: Limerick, Shels.

    Cork: Shels, Waterford, Finn Harps.

Barr Monaghan there the rest of the top teams have had easier starts I think and not picked up too many points. Mainly Waterford, Cork and Harps. We really need to take advantage of the hard work gone in so far. We can start by keeping on winning at home. A few teams still have to play Longford also and they are a decent enough team this season and can take points from the top teams.

Not trying to be smart but there's 5 games gone...it's almost as if people are wishing the season away already...there are a lot of games in a season try to enjoy them

Very true but after how it looked at the end of the Finn Harps game (O'Flynn suspended, Purcell suspended, Sheehan out for half the season, Corie Tracey suspended and Chris Breen picking up a slight injury) I think its good to look back on what we have picked up points wise so far especially as we would all have taken what we have gotten so far going into what should be considered easier games than 4 of the first 5 already played.
