Monaghan fans were celebrating this April Fools Day as the club was involved in not one but two spoof threads on foot.ie.

Manager Roddy Collins said in an interview on his 24-hour interview phone line "Well I'm delighted, the last time I did the double was in my only other managers job at Bohemians where I won two things in one year. But I definitely wouldn't go back to Bohs unless they offered me the job that I've applied for."

Monaghan local Eoiney Coddin said "I was taken in by the whole thing. Who knew that there was a soccer league in Ireland, and then that there was a team from Monaghan in it?"

Chairman Jim McGlone was over the moon "A few businesses fell for the CAS promotion story so we've got a extra sponsorship as long as we cash the cheques quickly. I think I'm gonna turn my phone off today. Keep getting April Fools texts and even though I'm skeptical of everything I'm being told today, I really wish some of them would be true!
