    Aston Villa's Carlos Cueller

A topic of confusion for myself and a friend. Both of us were convinced that Carlos Cueller is a USA international or at least had some connection to the team. Can't find any reference to ties to the USA anywhere but I'm certain I've heard him being refered to as the 'American defender' on Sky Sports etc. Can anybody clarify?

    Thanks.

I always thought he was Spanish....

He is Spanish. Never heard any American reference I must say. He was outstanding during Rangers UEFA Cup run in 2008 at centre back, almost single-handedly getting them to the final in my opinion. He's been decent at Villa too but has generally had to play at right back because of the Dunne Collins partnership. Maybe ye are getting him mixed up with Carlos Bocanegra, who isn't too dissimiliar in appearance and can also play centre back or full back.
