Huge game Sunday, Celtic - Claremorris. A win for either would be massive. Here's hoping our lads can bag 3 points

Should be a good game alright, but ye'll missing a few players wont ye? stevie gavin went out injured against westport, alan mcdonnell got 2 yellows and was sent off and rumour has it that stevie ryan is going to america.

could be a very close run in for claremorris and celtic if they keep goin the way they are.

I think that Castlebar Celtic honestly have the league in the bag. With the squad they have this year, it is really their league to lose at this stage and we are not even half ways through yet.

Looks like Claremorris and Celtic at this stage but still many twists and turns to come before the League will be decided. Big game for both clubs this weekend but not a title decider by any means.

While the league may not be decided, it would be a big step for Celtic,It nice to here Declan talk up Claremorris, beware. He may ready to bring them down.
Regards to there sqauds, Celtic can take any number of players out, still be strong. As for claremorris while well organised lacking in numbers.Good luck to them any way.

Absolute cracker tonight in Claremorris finishin 4 4. As a neutral it had it all and both will feel they could have won having both hit the woodwork late on with spectacular efforts. It was agreat advert for the Mayo League. Thaught ref tried to ruin it again sending off two players for nothing. Seen him a few times this season and every time all he seems intrested in doin is taking out his cards instead of doin the sensible thing and talking to the players giving them at least a warning which he should have done tonight. If he was in his local playin poker he wudn show as many cards... Pity for the league Claremorris didnt hold out in the end but a crackin effort to level things up.

Good result for Celtic. Fair result by all accouts. As like many refs in Mayo they always have to be the center of attention.

Cracking game. I'd hate to be writing the report for The Connaught, but I'll do one here haha Celtic went 1-0 up after 7 mins from a Ronan O' Boyle free kick, expertly placed in the bottom corner after a handball on the edge of the box. Claremorris responded immediately, Brian Gallacher scoring with a glancing header from a Danny Broderick delivery. Moments later they were ahead. The Celtic keeper brought down the Claremorris striker, Glynn?, and the same lad tucked it away with aplomb. Celtic equalized when Ronan O' Boyle followed up Chris Rowlands stinging drive that the keeper spilled to tap in from close range. In between the Claremorris left winger hit the upright with another glancing header. Also, the Claremorris right back was harshly sent off for two bookings. The first appeared to be for obstruction, the second for a nothing off the ball incident. 2-2 at the break.

Celtic took the lead when Danny Broderick somehow headed into his own net under no pressure from Ollie Cunninghams cross. However, as Celtic went for the killer goal Claremorris hit back. After the restart Celtic won a corner, which was cleared and Claremorris broke, eventually allowing Glynn to slip the ball between the Celtic keepers legs. 3-3. However, as seems the norm these days in the Mayo League, the referee decided he wanted in on the drama. Pat Foley sent off Celtics Stevie Gavin for a second yellow, despite the fact the foul appeared to be made by Cunningham. Then Broderick made amends. His free kick taking a big deflection off the Celtic wall before nestling in the bottom corner with the kepper stranded. Both teams were now going for it gung-ho. Claremorris seeking to kill it, Celtic chasing a leveler. Ollie Cunningham hit the bar with a dipping effort before Marty Owens contrived to blaze over with the goal at his mercy. Claremorris also hit the woodwork, Glynn beating Byrne in the Celtic goal but not the goal itself. Then O' Boyle produced the moment of the game. Taking the ball down on his chest, with his back to goal and two defenders on him, he pirouetted and found barely a yard of space before curling a wonderful strike into the far top corner. Another fantastic strike for the forward to complete his hat trick. Claremorris were twice denied on the goal line first by a wonderful tackle from James Minogue and then Byrne produced a fine save. At the death Celtic almost won it. A long ball foreward was headed clear as far as the inrushing Ger O' Boyle 25 yards out. He caught it on the full volley as perfect as is possible and everybody stood and watched as the ball crashed against the junction of post and crossbar and flew away to safety. That was the last action. I'm sure I've left plenty out but its hard to remember everything in such an open game.

I'd say it was more for verbal abuse or something. I'd be more worried about the decisions on the pitch in fairness, they were shocking

Was at the game, the fella beside me said ''I payed a fiver into that game, if they asked for fifty I'd happily have paid it''. Without doubt the best game in the Mayo league for years, yes, years.

Was there more people in the dugout other than the subs, amnager and assistant and phisio as that is all that is allowed. The same ref.was refereing a U16's game between Killala and Westport last Monday in Westport and it seems they play the games out in the rugby pitch, no signage, bad directions, rang ahead to say they would be late. turned up at 7.30 to meet the ref driving out the gate. But we had to wait an hour for him behind in Achill one night.

Castlebar Celtic could potentially win the Super League this evening. As it stands, with two games to play, Celtic are first with 28 points, Claremorris second with 25 and Westport third with 24. Celtic face Erris tonight while Westport and Claremorris meet in Westport. If Celtic win and Westport win, it would leave the table as Celtic 31, Westport 27 and Claremorris 25 with a game to play. An unassailable lead. Very possible, but as we've seen before things could turn out very different

So season over. What did everyone make of it? Will Celtic be at the top for the next few years? Westport did well to finish second after a poor start. Claremorris had a fantastic year after been promoted. While Swinford and Ballinrobe were not up to the standard.
Any predictions on the Team of the Year??
