League of Ireland fans must be one of the toughest audiences about. Years and years of nothing from our Tv networks, now we have a prime Monday night slot to cover LoI and its still a big moan! MNS - Monday Night Soccer, not purely a LoI review so they can mention other football(soccer) related matters even if it is about that cretin S. Ireland. Lets face it maybe there is a lot of padding on the show cause the league highlights may not be that high. No offence to 1st division clubs (Dundalk fans know only too well) but with if all games looked as well attended as Tallaght and Brandywell well they would be covered. On specifics, Ray Houghton and other guests especially J Giles can add somthing to the programme. A (kind of) independant view point might be good particularly when we get to referee bashing. Houghton did ok for a chap with limited knowledge and seemed to have done a bit of homework(i'm pretty sure Paul Cook got a call from him to get a heads up).
I agree that is not a perfect show, but we are a long way off from getting a MOTD, and that isnt nevessarily to do with RTE. Some pundits are better than others and if Roddy stopped trying to play the Dunphy role what he says is not always wrong, Richie Sadlier usually calls it well although he looks as if he is desperately trying not to laugh at Roddy. Fran Gavin should grow a pair but do we really expect him not to tow the FAI line..he has a family to feed too.

Very enlightening comments from Liam O'Brien re Killian Brennan, for those who still can't or refuse to see the wood from the trees.

I withdraw my previous marks. I doff my cap to my RTE betters for deeming to give us a programme (even if it is part of the National Team contract, and not a bloody favour) - it doesn't matter how crap the show is, I should be grateful there is a show at all.
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.

Basically said that what Brennan's being paid has nothing to do with him, Nutsy or the players, down to the board. Can't wait to see if there's the same reaction when the wages can't be paid.

I only saw a small bit on Monday. Had it in my head that it was on at 8. Surprised when I saw Houghton.
When they started Paper Talk, I thought this could be a good idea....heard the name Stephen Ireland and switched off. The FAI are paying RTE for a league highlights show. I like MNS generally and think it would be good to attract new viewers in the hope that they might attend LoI matches, but I don't think anyone is specifically tuning in for a discussion on Irish (if he hasn't burned his passport yet) players abroad so why bother with it?

Our budget is common knowledge at this stage.

Pity no one told Nutsy before he put the figures he did in the media

de bowez - the link you posted directed me to speculation about a budget of €174k being quoted in the Evening Herald.

Is this the "common knowledge" you meant?

No, Chippies post. 450-500k for the year for players and management. Which is around 400k too much.
