Surely McGeady has to get some part of the action .....I don't care what people say he should be on the team instead of that muppett Lee and possibly even Morrison

i hope to see him at some stage this evening too, i think it's a little premature to say that he should be on the team ahead of Lee and Morrsion though. He's played less than an hour of senior football in his career. I hope all the hype is true, but there's absolutely no evidence thus far that he can compete at senior international level.

Well said to say he should be in instead of that muppet lee and morrison is a stupid comment. The lad has scored one goal for celtic and suddenly hes better than guys playing week in week out in 1st div and premier. Fair enough he should get a run but we seem to get over excited the minute any irish player plays more than five minutes in a first team.

I know its not definite that McGeady will fulfill his potential. What has Lee ever done? Score a few goals for cardiff and Rotherham, ok maybe having instead of morrison is a bit premature but lee has never showed anything - not even the potential to be a good player

What's the point in starting Kinsella? I thought this was about giving the youngsters/players with futures a chance. Kinsella is neither. We'd learn far more starting Doyle, and also McGeady should have started too. I'm glad I decided not to waste my money ordering either of these matches on ppv anyway.

As much as we all know Kinsella has no future with Ireland, he is the only player in from the current choice of players with more than 25 caps and older than 25 years of age.

I thought these friendlys were about giving the people without the experience a chance to play for Ireland so when the proper matches come around they're proper options. There's no point whatsoever playing a has been in a young players spot, it achieves nothing and the youngsters are probably better players anyway.

We need an experienced captain on the pitch otherwise we'd fall apart. Kinsella may not be a superb player but having one (not 8 like the Swizz match) experienced player in the team can make all the difference. Anyway, he's a better player than Douglas from what I've seen of both anyway.

But it's a friendly, it's about trying new players not about winning. And it's only bleedin' Jamacia anyway!

There's not much use in having an experienced player when the experienced player, well, is not much use.

Agreed. Would far rather see Michael Doyle from Coventry in the centre given a go. Would do a lot more giving him 90 minutes and losing than giving kinsella 90 minutes and losing ( and sure we might even win ). Hopefully Mc Geady will come on for at least a half will be good to see him get a run . Sean thornton will hopefully make the step up soon if he has a good start to season for sunderland and now that hopefully stephen elliot will be getting regular football he will give clinton a run for his money

    Team announced

    ----------------------------------Kenny--------------------------

    --------Maybury-----------O'Brian-----------Doc---------O'Shea-----------

    ---------Barrett--------Kinsella----------A.Quinn---------A.Reid---------

    --------------------Morrison---------------Lee--------------

Quinn? Barrett? Rowlands and Doyle have a lot more to prove.

Barrett deserves a game, I am guessing he will bring Doyle and McGeady on for all of the second half ( will be disappointed if he doesn't ) and probably use Rowlands again. Decent selction, though why not play Clarke again at left full and O'Shea on the right?

Can't he play for Scotland even if he does play against Jamaica or Holland? I thought you were only committed to a country if you played a competitive game?

You're right Stu, didn't Fashanu play a friendly for england before declaring for Nigeria?
    Apologies for the confusion.

1-0 Ireland - Graham Barrett with a deflected goal. Ireland fairly dominant and apparently much more lively than against Nigeria; Morrison's hit the bar and has missed another decent chance.

    Cool Mc Geady

Is he on yet? Hope so .. I'd hate to read one of those trivia questions in 20 years time, where the legendary Scottish World Cup Golden boot striker nearly played for Ireland etc.

No sign yet, Kerr should get the finger out and get him on, isn't this tournament all about players like him?
