The thing you must remember about the Setanta Cup is thatseason tickets don't apply. So the gate revenue generated from the games may bejust as much as the clubs are getting from the avenge league game, even thoughthe gates are smaller. Very pleased with Dundalk's two home gates to date inthe competition. With prize money it will prove very beneficial to the club.
Neale Fenn on retiring: 'I think once you finish you might as well finish rather than making all sorts of comebacks.'
It was a very funny clip, with most of the cast from the excellent 'Peep Show' but I do think Galway deserve a bit of credit for at least making an effort in attracting more fans for their home games so far this year. Didnt they introduce a €99 season ticket ? Some of our lot have spent that already on Setanta games, so its excellent value. Good luck to their efforts for the season ahead.

The majority of Sligo fans last night were shocked that we have dropped our Ticket Prices to €20 for Familt Ticket (2 Adults & 2 Secondary School kids). €12 for adults, €10 for concessions,€5 for Secondary School Kids and all accompanied U12'S go free. We have targeted increase attendances at games and the extra numbers have actually increased our revenue in the first 3 home games. We have sold close to Double the number of season tickets also.

Good stuff gufct, I`m pleased its working out, its amazing what a little bit of work can do. Our crowd last night v UCD was 1,950, with a promotion deal having a big impact on the attendance which was around 300-400 up on the first game v UCD last April (and we were top then & unbeaten, compared to 6th now and having lost the previous game)
From dfc.com
It''s a great offer with special free kids tickets being distributed through schools (must be accompanied by paying adult), and with a Mother in the group getting free admission as an advance celebration of Mothers Day.There are also a limited number of these special free kids tickets available in advance from the Oriel Park office
This is the kind of stuff we need to be doing more for games where away support is low and that are tradtionally lower attended. Every club (well, most) should be looking at this actually as we all need to sell the product better.
Another excellent offer from DFC was €10 all seats/ground tickets, but only if bought this week, for the Cliftonville Setanta semi on April 18th. That sold very well I was told.

Say the new stand was 2/3 full, that means only ~600 people were needed in the rest of the ground for the official figure to be right. With Sligo bringing ~400, that seems about right.

650 at town game
More than 400 id say chief, between in our section and other Rovers fans scattered throughout the ground id say between 500-600.
To be honest I think its a bit premature for Galway to be shouting from the rooftops about attendances after that one game.
Between a 1/4 and 1/3 were Rovers fans and Galway fans seem alot more likely to come out against us because of the "derby" tag than the likes of Bray, UCD, Drogs etc.
But at least its moving in the right direction its just ive seen enough false dawns about Galway having turned a corner with regaurds crowds to take this one game with a pinch of salt.
We have played 3 games over 1,500 against Pats, over 1,000 against UCD and 1,800 against Sligo. Our aim for the season is to average 1,500 and if we make that we will be happy.

Don't see any of us shouting from the rooftops as you say tbh. We're only justifying the crowd from the last night, as some others seem to be doubting the reliablitiy of it. Yes its an improvement on last year, but there's still a long way to go before these crowds can be sustained.
65 at Salthill v Blues last night. I counted - excluding stewards although probably including directors, etc. 20 Blues. How is this senior football?
Rasputin, Sligo brought an excellent team, the class of ndo and a fantastic crowd as big as shams or bohs last season. A lot of Sligo fans expressed very favourable opinion on the GUFC pricing and the Kids free entry, they appreciated and said so. GUFC are light years from being anywhere near right. We are crawling out of a huge whole it will be 3 years before we will achieve real progress. And a lot of our own fans underestimate the competition on our doorstep. Surviving the next 6 weeks is all most of us are concentrating on. Sligo supporters helped us a lot on friday night, thanks
Rubbish binned.
Fair enough, I wasnt having a go, I did say yee were moving in the right direction.
I still cant see yee averaging 1500 come the end of the season if yee are averaging that now, because like with every club they will dip significantly as the season progress's due to various factors.
Also it was good not having to fork out silly money for the game, cheaper ticket prices are the way to go.
While the FAI seem to be obsessed with the Premiership model, I feel that the German model is far more sustainable and part of that is cheap ticket prices.
