Yeh it was. It was their best crowd of the season.

Yup, tidy, small stadium that's nice to be in is what Limerick needs. I've already had my only Limerick friend say she might start going to Limerick games once they move out of Jackman (which terrifies the life out of her!). If we extrapolate the 100% of people I know in Limerick going to games to the entire population of the city...

    Better get building!

Great news for Limerick (finally some after the FAI sham) with a bit of luck this might coincide with a return to the premier division, expect a big crowd on opening night
    Here on a technicality.

"at this weeks council meeting it was claimed the the FAI CEO, John Delaney, was putting obstacles in the way of investors willing to invest their money in soccer in Limerick". That's a quote from the Limerick post newspaper, hard to know how much truth in it but if there is it just highlights the pettiness of the FAI.

Would be a dream for us to get promoted this season to coincide with the move back to the markets field.

It's amazing what the smell of a pound can do for the City Councils vocal chords.

I've no doubt what they're saying is true but with a few honorable exceptions we're all aware of, when Limerick senior football has needed them the most in the past, the vast majority of our public representatives have been noticable only by their absence.

That's the only downside to getting the Market's Field, watching all the great and the good hobnob up there like they ever gave a fig roll, will be a real stomach turner.

    +1.

Great news for the league but most importantly for Limerick and the fans. It could be the catalyst needed to bring Limerick football back to the fore.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

That is the first negative comment about the move. The loyal support of the fans who were willing to follow Limerick to the Pike field and then on to Jackman park was crucial to the survival of the club and fans like that are essential to the success of a club. Similiar critcisms were aimed at Munster fans who made the team an etremely wealthy business over the last 10 years but couldn't tell you the name of a player outside of Paul o Connel Ronan o Gara and Peter Stringer but the same people pay just as much in the gate and are just as entitled to go and support the team that represents the county. I have never taken the missus to Jackman to watch a match for the obvious reasons that attach themselves to the location and the condition of the facility. But I for one as a genuine supporter of senior soccer in Limerick will be glad to see the day when a big crowd can go to the markets field and cheer on the team have a couple of drinks and enjoy a good evening out.
