    Question Names & Clubs please

Can anyone name 17 players who have represented The Republic of Ireland at Senior level whilst playing for a team outside the UK since 1972, excluding L of I clubs.

    Liam Brady - Italy
    Michael Robinson - Osasauna
    Mickey Walsh - Porto
    Don Givens - Neauchatel
    Robbie Keane - Inter
Frank Stapleton - Le Harve, Ajax
    Tony Cascarino - Marseilles
    Mick McCarthy - Lyons
    John Aldridge - Real Soceiadad
    Gary Waddock - Waragem
    Kevin Moran - Gijon
John Byrne (I think played for Le Harve)

Guessing that these might have been capped whilst finishing their careers in Canada and USA:

    John Giles (Vancoover Whitecaps)
    Pierce O Leary (Vancoover Whitecaps)
    Joe McDonagh (Vancoover Whitecaps)

    guesses

Couple more North America ones: Steve Heighway won his last cap whilst with Minnesota Kicks. I think Fran O'Brien won all his caps during his time with Philadelphia Fury.

Was Alan Campbell capped whilst playing in Belgium?

Right you are, just checked the sadly defunct kickinmagazine.ie. Campbell was with Santander when he won his first cap.

Did Alan Mahon win a cap whilst wasting away at Sporting Lisbon?

Nah, won all his caps at Rovers. I believe he's settled down in France and still lives there.

Ditto for Byrne, won all his caps at Rovers (despite playing for Philadelphia Fury, Leicester and Hearts - can't imagine that happening today!)

    Byrne never got capped though

Bucko got 2 caps one at Rovers and one elsewhere. Guessed it was Santander not Waregem

Right about one with Rovers, but the other was with Waregem - versus Mexico in 1984.

One more - Jimmy Holmes' last cap was with Vancouver.

Could be wrong but didn't Paul 'Ski' Mc Gee play for some team between QPR and his return to LOI?
