You would have to wonder how things are at Monaghan behind the scenes.

Does anyone know if Drogheda fulfilled their fixture today - away to Baldoyle United, and what was the score?

Have to feel for the Mons supporters, one week they get promoted then relegated again and then their manager walks 2 weeks before they kick off in the league. I for one thought things were very quiet up Gortakeegan way during the off season with keeping signings quiet, thought all was very boring and then all this action takes place within 1/2 weeks!!!

An ex SF assistant manager did take an interest but has he gone with Cooke to Drogheda?

Poor form on Drogheda's part, announcing an appointment while Cooke was in charge of Monaghan in a friendly. Surely Monaghan are entitled to compensation

Hope the Mons get the right man to replace him.

Gutted that Mick is gone and the manner of leaving leaves a little bit of a bad taste. But otherwise hard to be too upset with Mick after what he has done and wish him the best of luck. He might well need it.

in hindsight to robbie horgan he played for drogheda utd too in the past with mick cooke and maybe mick does deserve the move after eight years service with the club.. but it is strange that drogs announce the signing of cooke when mons friendly is takin place. I am very surprised that cooke wasnt on a contract with monaghan it brings back memories for us when Stephen Kenny left to go to bohs and he was on a verbal contract too.. wonder will Aidan Lynch Don Tierney be the new monaghan managerial duo.. I couldnt see Bobby Browne returning to Monaghan he will want to return to the LSL...the timing was crap for monaghan
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

If Cooke agreed a deal with Drogheda then they've every right to announce it.

Its no their fault that Cooke hasn't told his players or anyone else.

My guess would be that Cooke hadn't signed a contract with Monaghan, and left for an extra €50 a week.

You are right dodge, if there were no contractual issues Drogheda were well withing their right to make the announcement. But holding off a short while would have been the proper thing to do until Monaghan were informed. Cooke is probably most culpible which surprises me, as i thought he would have had a little more respect for Monaghan United, players and supporters.

Yeah, but I think Drogheda could have easily believed that once Cooke agreed to it, then he had already told Monaghan

Thats just on the announcement of course. Whether Drogehda had the decency to contact Monaghan before hand is another issue.

In fairness to Mick, he told the club on Saturday night but the timing of the announcement still could have been better.

Anyway moving on, the search is on

    Baldoyle 0-6 Shels
    Baldoyle 2-4 Drogs

Shels very impressive and Drogs poor is the consensus down in Baldoyle after the 2 games

Reckon Mick will do well although Mons probably have a better team than Drogs.
