I love the way Drogs officially announce something before Mick has resigned from Mons. Nice work there.

And walked straight into a bigger bullet with Kerley well done.

Nasty Drogs! Dundalk would never have raided Monaghan for personnel....

Think it is a crazy move, Mons looked very good against us pre-season. If the signing of Whealan is a sign of things at Drogheda he has made a very poor decision imo.

    I doubt it Blue Bear.

Nesta, its not so much the raiding that has annoyed me but more the official announcement while Mick is on the bench managing us in a pre-season game, hadnt told the players or the chairman, so was still our manager. Bold boys.

Onwards and upwards. Think it is a very stupid move by Mick, a man I respect and care about, and cant believe Horgie will throw his lot in with another team about to go extinct. Does he not learn. Drogs are getting 2 talented, decent blokes.

I doubt Mick himself would be too pleased with the timing of the announcement. Whats the situation with his contract? If the Mons chairman wasnt aware is it not an illegal approach then?

Strange move to say the least. Mick left Monaghan less than a week before the new season starts which is bad form in my opinion. But to go to Drogheda a team that by the look of things will struggle heavily this season is what bemuses me. With the current squad they have he will have to be a miracle worker to even keep them slightly competitive. Could Mick be Drogheda's Messiah?

Only bit of good news fr Mons is they have two weeks to find a new manager, they have no game this week in the league. Shocking behaviour from those involved though, surely they could have waited another day to announce it.

I just don't get it. Whats in this for Mick Cooke?

If he was unhappy or disaffected at Mons, then maybe you could understand that he would want a different challenge at another club. Was there any friction with him at Monaghan?

Otherwise this is a step up to the Premier that is almost certain to end in relegation to the first.

If the suggestions of lack of contact between Drogheda and Monaghan are true, it sure looks like bad form on Drogheda and maybe leaves them open to a compensation claim from Monaghan if Mick Cooke had a contract.

Classy from Mick Cooke, taking the job just before the season starts, after the transfer windows closed, while managing Monaghan in a friendly and telling the players there that he was staying. After all the quotes about how Monaghan deserved the promotion because they were more set up for the premier and did things for the licencing fairly.

So was Bobby Browne fired or did he quit when he realized how hard the season would be? Does Cooke think that there'll be no relegation like last season, and that Drogheda's finances will recover after their "magic season in the top division, where everyone will sponsor us, and we'll get loads of crowds, and our amateur squad will do really really well, and then in November we'll wake up and the stadium will have fixed itself"

Is it fair to assume that Cooke might not have bben under contract at Monaghan. Cause its not like Drogheda would be handing out any compensation.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Knickers in a twist.ie . Its tough on Monaghan no doubt but this kind of thing happens in football all the time. Get the f*ck over it.
Wasnt there talk of Mick retiring in a season or 2 anyway? Maybe he wanted a stab at the Premier before that. Albeit a very very tough job, because we obviously have a very small budget

and maybe he is a masochist and just wanted argubly the worst job in LoI. As i see it there is little knicker twisting going on, just a few questions on how the contract situation if there is one works and a couple of understandably disgruntled Mons fans cirticising the timing of the announcement.
