Big rumor in Galway is that Salthill are pulling out of the leagus at the end of this season. Hopefully we can see ourselves through until then.

A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.
The latest development, according to Tralee, is that even if all four A Championship clubs meet the First Division licensing criteria, only two will be elected. If other clubs are selected on merit, there will be no complaints, but given the progress made by individual clubs (Dynamos, Killarney Celtic, Castleisland, Fenit Samphires), especially at youth level, failure to win First Division status would be a hammerblow to the development of the sport in Kerry, so it would be in the KDL's interest to work closely with Dynamos to ensure they make the grade.
But hold on- we have 11 D1 clubs currently, or 9 for next year after the format change, so electing 2 makes no sense. 1, 3 or even 5 if they could be found would make a lot more.
In any case, how would Tralee not making it (and I hope they do) affect other clubs in Kerry?

That's the key issue that's been going around the last three years, after the KDL were forced out of the U-20 league, the plan was that a Kerry team would enter the A Championship, but when that fell through, Tralee went it alone. Since then, they've wanted players from the other KDL clubs to join up with them, but for the most part, they've refused. Maybe if Tralee become full League members, the prospect of playing Waterford, Limerick etc would encourage the other clubs to come on board, but the goal of all sides for the last decade at least has been to have an adult team in the First Division.
Hmmm.. junior clubs happily cooperating with their local senior side?.... tricky.
That's hard to achieve for established senior clubs and it could well be even harder for those that come up from the junior ranks.

Ah, I had forgotten about the Salthill rumour. In fairness it was around last year as well so not sure what to make of it, but if the lack of interest from them at our last fixture was anything to go by it may well be true.
For the record, I think they should let in any A championship club who meets the criteria.

Ah they should just put the whole lot together....sure it would be great craic if nothing else
Only another 9 titles till Drogheda become pride of county louth!!!
Is the Premier definitely expanding to 12, with 10th Premier v 3rd in a play-off?
I still don't see why the A Championship can't continue, just remove the stipulation Premier clubs have to field a team. A Championship clubs don't seem to have lobbied much for it's retention, even in a revamp of the format, so I guess there can't be too many complaints at the same time.
If it's true the plan was for a Kerry team to enter, it's a shame that didn't materialise. Tralee isn't going to get the backing of Killarney and other areas. A Kerry team to represent the region would've been a great way to go, in terms of getting more players involved and getting more support behind the team. When Tralee Dynamos joined forces with Kingdom Dynamos, I thought at A Championship level the team could've gone with the name Kingdom Dynamos reflecting the merger for that level and more a representation of the region while Tralee Dynamos continue in the KDL.

Legendz, if you remove the compulsory entry for Premier Teams you'll be left with maybe 3 or 4 in each section, meaning all will have to be put in together and Im pretty sure that if we have to travel to Tralee to play an A League game, it simply won't happen.
