He's English born anyway, dunno if he qualifies.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Not sure if he qualifies either, but his hair has Irish roots alright.

Robbie McDaid, signed by Leeds today, supposedly the newest 'wunderkid' from the North?

Presumably, he's not yet tied down internationally?

My two kids got their FBR certificates last week. I was spooked by Ealing Green's assertion that they weren't Irish up until that point. My son can wear his Ireland top with more authenticity now. My daughter doesn't care.

It's been three years now and yet his ghost still haunts these hallowed chambers.

    EG won't like that.

    My daughter doesn't care.
    EG will love that.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how Richard Brush (a sweeper keeper?) is eligible for Ireland? I see he is Birmingham born but didn't realise until recently that he was in our U19 squad last year.

Does he have Irish ancestry or is it under residency rules?

Sligo's Richard Brush? He's 29. Are you sure he was in our under-19 squad, and last year? He first signed for Sligo in 2006, so he'd probably be eligible on residence, if he is definitely eligible. He might well have Irish ancestry also.

Yeah, Brush wasn't in any squad, but he would be eligible for Ireland on residency.

Sorry. I was doing some background work on Connor Dimaio and came across this article on FAI.ie...

    http://www.fai.ie/international/unde...riendlies.html

...and misread the Richard Brush bit. I read it that Brush had withdrawn from the FAI team, but he had been injured for Rovers causing his replacement to withdraw from the FAI team. Duh.

Ah, that'd be the one. Fagan is just back after being released by Coventry, or Cuventrah as Michael D puts it.

    Always gonna happen.

I saw a pic online a couple of weeks ago where he was wearing the Belgian colours on his socks...

Jesus, the BBC are still peddling this line: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27133764

Not just the BBC peddling the line, it's viral. I bet if we dig a bit, it will be revealed that the IFA are the source of the misinformation.

Considering Albania was a longshot and never-ever-in-a-million-years Serbia, essentially the choice Januzaj had was between a country not recognised in the sporting world as a country and Brazil bound Belgium.

Would have liked to have seen him play for Albania. Don't think it was that long a shot to be honest. The early reports was that that was his preference.
Sounds like the Albanian FA screwed it up royally though. Boy I'd be pi$$ed if I was an Albanian fan right now

I thought the Albania move was a longshot after I read this interview with his father on a Kosovan tv station, Oct 2013.

    On Albania national team:
"I want to let everyone now that until now I never had any call from the Albania FA (FSHF), to sit down and talk.
They never called us, the only thing they did was to misinform the public, saying they talked to Januzaj, which is not true.
I hear an official from the Albanian FA said they talked to me eight months ago, which is a blatant lie. I know they did a show called "Patriot or Traitor" for my son and FSHF said they called him up.
That is not true. They are not professionals, they have to send the request to Manchester United first. For now, I am not closing the doors to Albania, because we are Albanians.
I was born in Kosovo, in Istog. However, they are closing the doors to themselves. They are sending me people, like they tried with Lorik Cana, the Albania captain.
I respect his career, but he has no influence on me whatsoever. I only deal with professionals of the issue."

"For now, I am not closing the doors to Albania, because we are Albanians"

That was the line that made me think it's not a long shot but, as i said, it looks like the Albanian FA made a right hash of it. Saps!
